Coronation Street's Kit Green star 'splits with girlfriend' weeks after joining soap

Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts is believed to have split from his girlfriend after five years. The actor, 33, made his debut as Christopher 'Kit' Green in May, introduced as the long-lost son of Bernie Winter (played by Jane Hazlegrove).

Jacob has removed all traces of PR Amy Harris from his Instagram just weeks after joining the ITV soap. The couple would frequently appear on each other's social media in the past, enjoying meals and date nights together.

As of Monday (June 10), they have both removed the other on social media, signalling the end of their five-year romance. Express.co.uk has contacted ITV representatives for comment.

Before landing the role of Kit, Jacob was best known for starring in Hollyoaks. He portrayed Damon Kinsella on the Channel 4 soap from 2017 until 2023. He recently swapped Hollyoaks village for the Cobbles, with Kit thrust into the gripping storyline of Lauren Bolton's (Cait Fitton) murder.

Lauren mysteriously vanished from Weatherfield in February, with police certain she had been murdered in a violent attack. Kit was brought in to aid with the investigation and it wasn't long before he arrested Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) for his involvement in Lauren's disappearance.

However, viewers know it was actually Joel Deering (Calum Lill) who murdered Lauren. Recalling the moment he walked onto the set for the first time, Jacob admitted it was "surreal" to have landed a role on the long-running ITV soap.

He said: "When I walked on set for the first time it actually felt a bit overwhelming because the attention to detail is just incredible, it actually makes you feel that you are on a real street.

"I got a call just before Christmas and I submitted a self-tape. I actually put it to the back of my mind and didn't think much of it because I think I assumed I wasn't successful after not hearing back."

Jacob added: "Around a month later I was invited to a meeting, which was more of a casual audition, and after this was the screen tests which still had five people auditioning for the part but in the end, I got it and was delighted."

Since Kit's arrival in Weatherfield, his exchanges with biological mum Bernie have been frosty. Despite wanting to build a relationship with her son, Jane recognised it could be harder than she once thought.

The 55-year-old explained: "I believe Bernie would love to begin building a relationship with Kit and try to fix all of her wrongs."

However, the actress warned: "She has always imagined what he would be like but I think she perhaps realises that he’s not as decent as she had hoped he would be so she also now needs to face the reality of what and who he is rather than the imagined son she’s always kept in her head and heart for all of these years."
