BBC presenter Ros Atkins will perform a drum’n’bass DJ set at Glastonbury, two years after he revealed his hidden past as a festival and club DJ. The on-screen journalist, who is best known for presenting Outside Source on BBC News, admitted he got a call-up to perform at the upcoming annual summer festival.

Taking to X, Ros stunned viewers as he announced the exciting news with his 393,000 followers, in a long thread, after being invited by bosses.

He penned: "As I may have mentioned a couple of times, in an unlikely development, I'm going to be doing a drum and bass set @Glastonbury. And, not at all unreasonably, quite a few people have asked me variations on ‘how did that happen?!’ Well, there's a bit of a story here."

The 50-year-old explained he last performed at a festival in Regent's Park back in the noughties but paused his DJ'ing gig after the birth of his first daughter. The BBC presenter will play his very own set at Stonebridge when the festival kicks off next month.

Announcing the news to his fans, Ros said last month: "It's frankly incomprehensible that I'm tweeting this - but here's the line-up for Stonebridge at @glastonbury and, to my great excitement and astonishment, I'm on it.

"What started with a one-off drum and bass set for BBC6 Music two years ago has ended up here.

"Very grateful for the invitation. Work on the set has already begun..."

Social media users flocked to comment on the news as they congratulated the presenter on the surprise gig.

BBC Breakfast's Rachel Burden penned: "Love this."

Another commented: "I’m not one to read threads but this is quality Ros. As someone from the same era, I can’t imagine both your nerves and excitement. Ray Keith’s set at Radio Dreamscape will forever live in my mind. Good luck fella and horns massive blow!"

A third wrote: "Love this thread. What an opportunity. So jealous! Best of luck."

"Really hope that the beeb put your set on the I-player Glastonbury coverage," another shared.

Ros will perform on the Stonebridge stage at Glastonbury from 3.30pm to 5pm – an idea he said he “hasn’t remotely got used to”.
