Piers Morgan was absolutely ecstatic as England clinched their spot in the Euro 2024 semi-finals, triumphing over Switzerland in a heart-stopping penalty shootout.

The outspoken TV personality didn't waste a moment to revel in Gareth Southgate's squad's thrilling victory, although not everyone around him seemed to share his high spirits.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter, 59, took to Instagram to express his joy - and cheekily stir up some Scottish locals. Piers chose the renowned Jigger Inn, an iconic Scottish pub, to watch England's latest victory.

Beaming with pride and gesturing towards the Jigger Inn sign, Piers captioned his Instagram post: "No better place to celebrate England's win than in Scotland's most iconic pub."

"The locals weren't quite as happy as me."

he quipped, punctuating his caption with a tears of joy emoji, alongside the English and Scottish flags and a pint of beer emoji.

His followers were quick to react to Piers' cheeky post, with one disgruntled user commenting: "Scotland doesn't want you go home."

Another chimed in: "Mate, you'll not be allowed back with that attitude!"

Some even challenged his national loyalty, with queries like: "Thought you were Irish?"

Earlier this week, the ever-vocal Piers Morgan took to social media to extend his congratulations to Sir Keir Starmer on becoming the new Prime Minister.

Following a post where he shared an image of himself voting on Thursday, Piers uploaded a photo of him in conversation with Keir.

In his caption, Piers reflected on his interview with the Labour leader, stating: "When I interviewed him for Life Stories, I concluded he's a good, decent, hard-working, self-made man who wants the best for his country.

"He's also an Arsenal fan which augurs well. I wish him every success."

However, in typical Piers style, he couldn't resist a jibe at the Tories.

Posting an image of Jacob Rees-Mogg as he discovered he had lost his seat, standing beside a man donning a baked bean balaclava.

Piers described the scene as an "absolute abattoir-scale bloodbath for the Tories".
