Gogglebox Stephen Webb's candid love life update after split decision sparked backlash

Gogglebox star Stephen Webb has given a relationship update following his split from co-star Daniel Lustig. Posting to his Instagram Stories, the Channel 4 star shared with his 282,000 followers that he was "en route" to a "hot date".

The 52-year-old showcased his day as he travelled by tube, bought himself some new shoes and treated himself to lunch before the grande finale of his exciting evening. He shared a picture of himself looking suave in the back of a car, dressed in a leather jacket and sunglasses.

Stephen captioned his collection of images, as he wrote: "Next stop hot date...". On the final snap, he penned: "En route". However, following the teaser, he didn't give any further details.

The TV personality is currently filming for the latest series of Celebs Go Dating. However, he faced quite a bit of backlash, since fans think he is heading back on to the dating scene "too soon" after a break up.

Stephen revealed back in April that he had separated from his husband Daniel Lustig-Webb, who he appeared on Gogglebox with, after a six year marriage.

Life coach and expert on the show Anna Williamson shed light on Stephen's state of mind since the split, and how it has impacted his relationship with his ex.

She told Express.co.uk: “We've already got into some of the nitty gritty about Stephen’s marriages, but you know, obviously, the breakup with Daniel and the relationship is a very positive one, even though they're no longer together.

"I think there is no right or wrong time to jump back into the dating pool, after a breakup. But I think people need to be kind and respectful to what goes on behind closed doors. Breakups often take a long time to actually come to fruition."

She continued: "And I would say from my experiences so far with Stephen is the breakup that he has had with Daniel has been very respectful, and full of support and love. And I believe Daniel is very supportive of Stephen being on the show."

The expert added that breakups are a "grieving process" but the Channel 4 show are "holding Stephen's hand" through that as they help him to find new love.

Anna added: "We have to remember, you know, this is Celebs Go Dating. This isn't, you know, celebs suddenly come in, get married and all that. This is an opportunity, as people now know, with the show, to come in raw, fresh off the back of heartbreak."
