A baffled customer was left speechless after her can of Monster Energy drink was swapped out for an unusual substitute.

The shopper had put a 500ml can of Monster as well as a 200ml L'Oreal thickening conditioner in her online order. However, due to the items being unavailable, they were replaced with alternatives.

While the hair product was swapped with a similar item - a colour protect bottle - the alternative for the Monster energy drink left her flabbergasted.

The customer Maddie, who shared her experience on X (previously known as Twitter), found a 500ml can of "locked in flavour" beef stock from Potts in her delivery, which was flagged as the replacement for her desired Monster drink.

Naturally, she did not fancy her choice of beverage being switched out with a can of meat broth.

In a tweet that left fellow X users in heaps of laughter, she attached a photo of her order displaying the bizarre swap. One user responded: "What the flying f**k is that substitution?"

Another quizzed: "Are you able to get reimbursed for that? Like if I asked for lavender shampoo and they got a different shampoo I wouldn't care, but they gave you a can of beef juice."

In all of this, some saw the comedic side and even gave tips on how she could consume the broth. A user humorously suggested: "Put it in a mug and microwave it. Toss in some salt and you have warmed sipping broth."

While another claimed that the beef broth might actually be a better morning beverage as they wrote: "Morning beef broth > morning monster." A second exclaimed: "This is as good an upgrade as you're likely to see."

The Potts' Beef Stock was humorously branded a "forbidden Red Bull" by another. Some adventurous souls even boasted they could "shotgun" the beef stock, downing it in one go without batting an eyelid.

One enthusiastic individual declared: "I would slam a can of beef stock, why are there not more of these? Gimme." Another quipped: "Shotgun on hard mode."

A small group of X users suggested the original poster should go to the store themselves rather than relying on deliveries, with one asking: "Maybe just go shopping yourself?" Another recommended ticking the "no substitutions" option in future.
