A royal expert has suggested that the rift between Prince Harry and Prince William may be difficult to mend, even as King Charles is reportedly open to making amends with his youngest son.

The possibility of reconciliation comes as King Charles has been seeking “spiritual nourishment” from discussions with religious leaders, which has potentially softened his stance toward Prince Harry.

Nigel Nelson, speaking to GB News, shared insights into King Charles's current mindset and the ongoing tensions within the royal family.

"Bear in mind that King Charles is very devout. He has been all his life, like his mother," Nelson said.

He said that while it's unclear exactly where King Charles's spiritual inspiration is coming from, the Church of England calls for forgiveness and reconciliation as one of its core values.

"The advice basically from the Church of England, for instance, is big on forgiveness.

“Forgive Harry, just bring him back into the fold. It doesn't quite explain in this story where this spiritual advice is coming from," Nelson added.

However, Nelson also addressed the strained relationship between Prince Harry and Prince William, describing it as a challenging rift to heal.

"That rift sounds like one that's going to be very difficult to mend," he said.

"If it is mendable, who would be in a better position to mend it than their father? So, if this was to actually happen, I mean, surely we'd all think it would be really great if Harry could come back and actually be part of that family again."

But Nelson said that any reconciliation would require effort from both sides.

"Harry also has to get his act together, so it works both ways," he said.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been outspoken about their grievances with the Royal Family over the past few years.

In his memoir Spare, Harry referred to Queen Camilla as his "wicked stepmother."

Additionally, in a highly publicised interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan claimed that an unnamed senior member of the Royal Family had "raised concerns" about the skin colour of their son, Archie.

Harry’s book also included private details about his relationships with family members, including his brother, Prince William, and his sister-in-law, Princess Kate, adding more strain to already tense family dynamics.
