A man is wondering whether to be "proud or ashamed" of an accolade presented to him by Greggs.

Taking to Reddit with his embarrassing accomplishment the bloke found himself wondering how to feel about being a member of the "sausage roll VIP club".

Being a member of the club and in the top 5% of Greggs customers means they were able to claim a free sausage roll on their next visit to the store. Forum users have since mocked the man and dubbed him "Porky".

The original poster wrote: "I'm not sure whether I should be proud or ashamed... I definitely claimed my free one though."

The acclaimed membership came in the form of an email, and read: "You're in the top 5%, P***. It's National Sausage Roll Day and we want to say a big thank you for being a loyal member of the Sausage Roll fan club. So to celebrate, your next one is on the house."

Scribbling out their name but leaving the first letter led to a host of problems as the original poster was dubbed everything from "Porky" to "Penis". One user wrote: "You're in the top 5%. Porky." Another joked: "I'm proud of you, Penis."

Some comments confirmed they too were part of the 5% and were keen to reveal they had purchased enough pastry products to get into the club.

One wrote: "I got the same! One of us. One of us." Another joked the club should have been named better, writing: "'Sausage Roll Fan Club', when 'Roll of Honour' was right there.

Others wondered how they get themselves into the elusive 1% of the Sausage Roll Fan Club. They wrote: "How many put you in the top 5% how can I become a 1% sausage roll (apart from eating so many I become literally 1% sausage roll)."

The original poster replied: "Considering I've only had the app for about 8 months I'd say between 1 or 2 metric f**ktonnes."
