Dan Wootton fumes 'shame on the BBC' as he defends Strictly's Giovanni Pernice
Dan Wootton has claimed Giovanni Pernice only ever "wanted to win the show", as he speaks out on the Strictly professional. The 41-year-old presenter shared a bold statement supporting the BBC star.
Dan Wootton has fumed "Shame on the BBC" as he rushed to defend Strictly Come Dancing's Giovanni Pernice. Taking to social media, Dan shared his views when he slammed the British Broadcasting Network in a scathing post. He uploaded a snap of the 33-year-old dancer where he posed in a suit and penned a lengthy caption.
He wrote: "The British MSM's deranged witch hunt against former Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice for being – shock horror – a tough trainer who wanted to win the show is gross to watch."
He concluded the post: "Shame on the BBC and all the other entities backing away after hiring him for years. DUE PROCESS! @giovannipernice." Fans flocked to the comments section, reacting to the post he shared with his Instagram 150,000 followers.
One fan agreed: "I don't get it... Gio comes across as a lovely talented man. Shame on them all. Good to see he's back working with his friend Anton." Another went on: "I feel for him. Why are none of the Strictly dancers defending him? Solidarity."
"Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty!! He's a professional dancer who wanted to win (shock horror)," someone else quizzed.
Another shared: "Team Giovanni. Everyone of these “celebrities “ have stood in front of the camera live & have said how good he is." (sic)
Dan's statement came after it was revealed that Giovanni decided to step back from the show after nine years on the show.
Last year, he was partnered with Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington who left weeks into the live shows.
It was reported she put in a formal complaint following her departure which has since been acknowledged by the BBC.

Among these are the likes of other potential shows with the BBC as well ITV’s jungle reality programme I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!
ITV bosses are said to be eager to get him locked in, a source told the Sun before adding: "Giovanni would be perfect for the jungle.”
They claimed the timing was perfect as "ITV bosses have wanted him for years and now he is finally free."
