ITV Emmerdale and Coronation Street bosses join forces to issue viewer warning
ITV soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street issued a joint statement about their actors warning viewers to "be mindful".
ITV soap bosses have shared a joint statement to social media warning fans of Emmerdale and Coronation Street to "be mindful" when following their favourite actors online in a rare move.
The programmes both posted a warning to Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter), explaining how scammers have been targeting show fans. They warned that con men have been using their stars' identities online.
The message read: "Please be mindful that the Coronation Street and Emmerdale actors are often impersonated on social media platforms by scammers who set up fake accounts on platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and Telegram.
"As producers of both programmes, we feel we should warn viewers that this is happening, and noticeably more frequently of late.
"Please take great care when conversing on social media and be vigilant about these fake accounts by reporting them to the appropriate platform."

The warning comes after a spate of soap stars have experienced many social media accounts posing as them.
Sue Cleaver, who is known for her role as Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV cobbles, recently said that there was "nothing they could do" to stop people taking on the false personas.
In a post on X, where she spoke into her phone's camera, Sue captioned it: "#scamalert please note, I would never and will never be affiliated with any diet or weight loss programmes."

She said: "It has been brought to my attention again that there are a couple of fake videos of me that are doing the rounds. They're trying to sell the usual bulls**t diet pills.
"So thank you to the couple of you who brought it to my attention." She sighed before continuing: "Nothing that I can really do about it. There's nothing we can do to stop this... These a***holes from doing this.
"I just wanted to reassure you that I would never in a million, trillion years advocate anything like this. So, all I can really do is just point out to check who posted it. If it's not come to my account, not come from my page, it's not from me."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm and Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX
