Emmerdale's Angelica King actress Rebecca Bakes has confirmed when her character will be back on the ITV soap following a dramatic departure. The teen hasn't been seen since March after she was sentenced to eight months in a secure children's home.

In a huge twist, Angelica confessed to her involvement in Heath Hope's death. Scenes that aired in the new year saw Angel, Heath and his twin sister Cathy involved in a car accident after they stole Wendy Posner's car.

Heartbreakingly, Heath died in the accident with Cathy getting the blame for her brother's death. However, later scenes in March showed Angel facing time as she admitted to being the one driving at the time of the deathly accident.

She was carted off to the cells after being sentenced to eight months in a secure children's home. While there haven't been many prison scenes, the soap has mentioned that the youngster is struggling with her new surroundings.

Confirming when her character would be back on screens, Rebecca told Express.co.uk and other press, at the Radio Times Soap Awards: "It should be at the end of September, so in a few months maybe! I don't really know because we haven't started filming anything yet."

She added: "Before we even started filming it, we were told that the driver would be me and they kept us updated. It was really exciting because I'd never previously done anything as big."

The actress also touched on how she felt about the exit of her co-star Sebastian Dowling, who played the role of tragic Heath.

The two young stars had worked together for years, before he was written out of the soap.

Rebecca said: "It was also sad because I'd known Sebastian for years. We didn't really film much, but when we were little we filmed together quite a lot. I've missed him when we're filming."

The actress was also asked if Angel would have a change of character upon her return, or hold on to her rebellious ways.

Rebecca responded: "I don't know, it could go in the direction of her being a rebel or going a bit downhill but I don't really know yet."

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV1.
