Fenerbahce officially revealed former Manchester United and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho as their new manager on Sunday evening.

Turkey will become the fifth country Mourinho has managed in, having enjoyed successful stints in Italy, Portugal, Spain and England.

But the legendary tactician arrives amid plenty of pressure, with Fenerbahce having missed out on the Turkish Super Lig title, despite racking up an astonishing 99 points.

Rivals Galatasaray pipped the Yellow Canaries to the league title, with former manager Ismail Kartal sacked shortly after.

As such, Mourinho is tasked with ending a decade-long drought for a title, with Fenerbahce’s last league win coming in 2014.

And to celebrate the Special One’s appointment, Express Sport have highlighted three former United and Chelsea players he could target this summer.

Nemanja Matic

Nemanja Matic has followed Mourinho around like a shadow at times, with the midfielder working under him at Chelsea, United and Roma.

It’s no shock Matic has played more games under Mourinho than any other manager, having featured over 200 times for the 61-year-old.

Mourinho even went as far as saying Matic was the best player he’d ever worked with when the pair were together at Old Trafford.

And while the midfield general might’ve left Mourinho’s Roma for Ligue 1 last summer, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Matic linking up with his former boss for one last dance together.

Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard, remember him? Well, Mourinho certainly will, with the Englishman another favourite from his time at Old Trafford.

But following a stop-start move to South Korean side FC Seoul, Mourinho’s appointment as Fenerbahce manager could open up a route back into European football for Lingard.

The Manchester-born ace enjoyed a successful stint under Mourinho, with Lingard notching up 31 goal contributions in just over 100 appearances.

And while his contract with FC Seoul is set to run until December 2025, Lingard may be tempted with a return to Europe, if his former gaffer comes calling.

Cesar Azpilicueta

A stalwart in several great Chelsea teams of the past, not just Mourinho’s 2014/15 title winners, Cesar Azpilicueta left the Blues last summer to join Atletico Madrid.

However, starts have been hard to come by for the defender, with Azpilicueta named in the starting XI for just 14 La Liga matches.

Perhaps a sign of his waning powers, the 34-year-old could extend his illustrious career even further with a Mourinho reunion at Fenerbahce.

Boasting just one year left on his Atletico contract, it’s unlikely Fenerbahce would have to stump up much cash to secure his services.

And with a trophy cabinet as decorated as his, Azpilicueta could provide the league-winning expertise Fenerbahce need to end Galatasaray’s period of dominance in Turkey.
