Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is reportedly growing impatient over his future. The 22-year-old is likely to be sold this summer and is understood to want his situation resolved in the next week.

Greenwood spent last season on loan at Getafe after it was decided that he should kickstart his career away from Old Trafford. The one-cap England international has not played for United since January 2022, when he was arrested and later charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour.

Those charges - of which he denied - were dropped in February 2023.

Greenwood scored six goals in La Liga last season and is set to return to United this summer. However, it is unlikely that he will wear a Red Devils shirt again.

According to the Mirror, Greenwood is growing ‘impatient’ over the uncertainty over his future. He reportedly wants a deal sorted in the next week.

A £25million bid from Valencia has reportedly been made, but United are holding out for around £40m. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Lazio and Marseille are also credited with an interest in the forward.

It was claimed earlier this week that Greenwood had been told not to join pre-season training with Erik ten Hag’s team. According to HITC, he and Jadon Sancho will not be welcomed back into the squad when players return to the Carrington training base.

Sancho fell out with Ten Hag in August last year over his exclusion from a Premier League defeat at Arsenal. The winger subsequently wrote that he had been made a scapegoat on his Twitter account and pinned a statement to his profile.

Ten Hag banished Sancho from the first-team facilities. The England international returned on loan to former club Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho excelled in Germany, helping Dortmund reach the Champions League final. The 24-year-old is widely expected to leave Old Trafford alongside Greenwood this summer.

Fees for Greenwood and Sancho could aid United’s own transfer plans ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season. United must improve their squad after a disappointing eighth-placed finish in the top-flight last term.

Defensive reinforcements are likely to be high on the agenda at Old Trafford. United are understood to have had a bid rejected by Everton for centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite. Matthijs De Ligt has been strongly linked with a switch from Bayern Munich, who have signed Eric Dier and are expected to add Jonathan Tah in his position.

Dan Ashworth joined United as sporting director this week alongside director of global talent Christopher Vivell, who has arrived on an initial temporary basis. The duo will be charged with completing United’s transfer business this summer.
