Be with the family, etc If the zing in you is still kicking, do not discontinue working because you had your mind, body and soul into it, Continue doing it without deciding anything on the timelines, best is to find time for the rest quotes above but still sticking to your passion. I have worked professionally for 21 years but have been working for a total of 28 years. I plan to work freelance from here on out. I can do this financially because of my achievements. I think this should be the key factor in the decision making process.... You are at a stage wherein in all probability you have seen it all and done it all over the course of your career. Thus, the only motivation which will keep you going is your passion for the work in question.... All other considerations like money and accolades will fade away very soon. So, if you think your contribution can add value to the work and joy in your and others lives, go ahead!

Retirement is like life 2.0 So many people I know keep their heads down and work without thinking about what their life will look like after they retire. This is where I find the FIRE movement quite powerful. The ethos is to test out and build in hobbies, pastimes, etc., early. It's about taking responsibility for our future and being proactive in planning for a retirement that is not just a binary way of life, but a natural transition.

In my case long term health and expected complications were a primary driver. Secondary to my own but equally compelling was the opportunity to spend time with close friends and family who could expect even less time than I. Difficult to do while engaged in a challenging albeit rewarding career. It’s a tough choice. I often miss the focus and purpose of my work life but have been rewarded in new ways with the retired one. Just be ready for change. Retirement can be surprisingly difficult to adjust to at first. You begin a new life of sorts, and leave the old one behind.

Certainly, physical condition greatly influences the decision to retire. Therefore, the first thing I always emphasize to everyone, especially the younger generation, is to take care and protect their physical health because this will be our asset for working and possibly continuing to work into old age if necessary. Furthermore, to enjoy a prosperous and happy life, good health and strong physical condition are essential. It's unimaginable to have a lot of money but be confined to bed for the rest of our lives until the end.

Ich finde, jeder ist selbst verantwortlich, schon selbst im Leben etwas für sich und seine Gesundheit zu tun. People move on with life and to be a part of their life takes a commitment in energy and time, which sometimes due to the nature of one's work and work pressure can get de-prioritized. Focus, in the now, on prioritizing the relationships that matter, building new ones external to your workplace that are connected to your area of expertise, and they will serve you very well in retirement.
