We are a purpose-driven business on a mission to end the ocean plastic crisis. Over 30 million pounds of trash removed!

Über uns

4ocean is a mission-driven for-profit business, dedicated to ending the ocean plastic crisis. Over 30 million pounds of trash removed from the world's oceans, rivers, and coastlines since 2017! Founded In 2017, 4ocean was created with the mission to sell a product that would enable the company to fund a worldwide cleanup initiative. This is how our first product, the 4ocean bracelet, was born. Made from recycled materials, every bracelet purchased funds the removal of five pounds of trash from the ocean and coastlines. In less than 6 years, we have sold enough bracelets to enable us to pull over 30 million pounds of trash from the ocean. Bracelet sales are just the beginning. We are building an assortment of high quality, sustainably-made products that will help people reduce their dependence on single-use plastic, reuse the materials we collect from the ocean, and celebrate the 4ocean brand and ocean-conscious lifestyle. Beyond our products, we combat the ocean plastic crisis through technology, cleanups, influence, and education. We are a for-profit business, because we believe in creating sustainable, profitable business models around cleaning the ocean rather than relying on external funding. Our ocean clean-up operations, currently in the U.S., Guatemala, and Indonesia, are meticulously documented and audited for transparency, and are regularly expanding to new locations and deploying new clean-up technologies. As of May 2023, our operations employ hundreds of people around the world, pulling trash seven days a week.

Generations of tradition meet ocean conservation. 🤝 In Bali, our crews use traditional Indonesian outrigger canoes, known as jukung or cadiks, to catch ocean plastic during their daily cleanups. These boats, once used to fish, are now vital to our cleanup efforts, each one lovingly restored and customized for the job. Thanks to your support, the tools of the past are helping us secure a cleaner future for our oceans. 🤙

Curious where ocean plastic really comes from? It all flows downstream. Co-Founder and CEO Alex Schulze breaks it down from Mengening Beach in Bali, Indonesia showing the harsh reality of plastic pollution during a cleanup and why it's crucial to stop it at the source. What percentage do you think comes from land-based sources? Take a guess in the comments below.

Ever wonder what happens to all the plastic and trash we collect? Co-Founder and CEO Alex Schulze takes us behind the scenes at our Medewi Base during our recent trip to Bali, Indonesia, showing how every piece retrieved is documented, weighed, and sorted. On this day alone, the team pulled 46 super sacks weighing a total of 1,422 pounds (645 kg) of plastic and trash. After processing, it’s cleaned, sorted, and prepped for recycling or repurposing. Thanks to every bracelet and product you’ve purchased, 4ocean has pulled over 38 million pounds (17.2 million kg) of trash from our oceans, rivers, and coastlines.

If not you, then who? 💭 Who’s going to pick up that plastic bag at the beach? Someone else? Who’s going to speak out about plastic pollution? Someone else? We all have the power to end the ocean plastic crisis, so why aren’t we doing it? The truth is, there are more bystanders than people willing to step up and help our oceans. Let’s change that, together. Tag a friend who’s ready to make a difference. 💪

Catch plastics before they reach the ocean. 🌊 On the Ijo Gading River in Indonesia, boom systems act as floating barriers, strategically placed to capture river plastic before it becomes ocean plastic. This vital operation supercharges our team's impact during our daily cleanups, stopping pollution right in its tracks. Let’s keep our rivers clean and our oceans blue — share this post with a friend to spread the word. 🌍
