Mālama'aina (actively caring for the environment) holds significant importance for Native Hawaiians, whose culture is shaped by Hawai'i’s unique resources. Yet, for 200 years, they've had minimal say in managing resources like nearshore fisheries, resulting in harm to both resources and people. Enter Hui o Ho’ohonua (HOH808), a community-development networking organization created by community members of the 'Ewa Moku (district or land division), which includes Pu’uloa (Pearl Harbor). Their focus is to end the perpetuation of historical trauma inflicted on the water, land and people of the community. Learn more at https://www.hoh808.org/.
