Today, we’re excited to welcome Jeffrey Rissman to Antora as a Visiting Senior Fellow! Jeff is one of the country’s foremost experts on industrial decarbonization and the author of “Zero-Carbon Industry: Transformative Technologies and Policies to Achieve Sustainable Prosperity.” Jeff currently serves as Senior Director, Industry at Energy Innovation Policy and Technology LLC, where he advances technologies and policies to eliminate industrial emissions. Earlier this year, Jeff was appointed by Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm to serve on the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Industrial Technology Innovation Advisory Committee. Jeff is also the creator of the open-source Energy Policy Simulator, a model that quantifies the effects of various energy and environmental policies and is used by policymakers around the world. During his time with Antora this fall, Jeff will support the analysis and design of policies that accelerate the deployment of thermal batteries to electrify global industry. Rene is a seasoned finance executive with over 30 years of experience in technology growth, investment banking, and strategy consulting. He has scaled hardware companies from fifty to hundreds of employees and led over 120 financial transactions, including three IPO processes. As CFO at Mighty Buildings, Volocopter, and Kreditech, Rene raised over $2 billion in equity and debt and built finance departments from scratch. Previously, Rene held positions in management consulting at McKinsey & Co and investment banking at Citibank. Rene holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Master’s in Economics from the University of Cologne. He is fluent in German, English, and Portuguese and is passionate about transformative technology and clean energy. At the Dynamo Summer Summit, Antora co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer David Bierman detailed the massive opportunity that can be created by linking the cheapest sources of U.S. electricity—wind and solar—to the largest industrial facilities in the country. David shared Antora’s progress with infrastructure investors on a special “Climate Shark Tank,” moderated by the unparalleled Mario Fernandez of Breakthrough Energy .
