For the 7th year, Arcus proudly sponsored and participated in the American Cancer Society East Bay #RelayForLife event, joining thousands of others across the country seeking to end cancer. At this year’s event, Team Arcus fundraised for the Society’s ongoing efforts in research, patient support, and advocacy. We believe in the power of community and science to make a change for those living with cancer – whether via cutting-edge research, or by fostering hope, connections and resilience within our communities.

Digital artist and designer Henry Daubrez watched his parents go through the highs and lows of their own cancer journeys when he was younger, focusing every day on when the cancer would be gone. That day never came for either of his parents and one day, years later, he was faced with his own #kidneycancer diagnosis. We had the honor of welcoming Natalie Phelps, a young mother of two and #coloncancer advocate with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, to speak at Arcus. Natalie spoke to her firsthand account of the extraordinary challenges that people with cancer face every day. She shared insights into how people make treatment decisions such as weighing efficacy with side effects and how the healthcare industry can make it easier for patients and caregivers to navigate finding clinical trials. Her raw, honest and at times heartbreaking journey was both moving and eye-opening, a powerful motivation to continue to think differently and strive for breakthroughs.
