Despite being the fastest-growing and third-largest ethnic group in the country, the AAPI community receives a mere fraction of the $659 billion spent on paid media and advertising. For every dollar spent on advertising in America, only 0.15 cents are dedicated to reaching AAPIs. This is unjustifiable in a society that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. The lack of attention and dedicated resources not only belittles our community but also has negative effects on AAPI publishers and agencies. It’s time to change this dynamic and fight for our fair share of resources.
