A new program developed by the CDC Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention streamlines information exchange between medical examiners, coroners’ offices and their colleagues across public health and public safety. This updated process for sharing data allows families faster access to death certificates, opens better lines of communication between agencies and sets up a much quicker way to track emerging—and emergency—public health threats, like disease outbreaks or environmental hazards. #DataModernization Watch the video for more.

New research from the CDC Foundation, in collaboration with Truth Initiative, explored how young people may perceive new cigarette variants advertised as "non-menthol," which were introduced following California’s ban on flavored tobacco products. The TEEN+ study collects survey data to evaluate tobacco product use and related behaviors among youth and young adults in the U.S. These data are essential to public health in today's rapidly changing policy and product landscape. Protecting the health of our nation and individuals does not happen in a vacuum—chronic and infectious diseases are intertwined together and in our daily life, making it imperative that our approach to community and national-level public health is comprehensive. I strongly support the views of these former CDC directors on the importance of the agency and its comprehensive mission. As this bi-partisan group of former CDC directors have stated: "Americans deserve a comprehensive health protection system that addresses the leading causes of disability and death, not limited to infectious diseases. The health of Americans — and the world — depends on a robust and well-funded CDC." https://cdcf.link/4cYVnid
