Educators across the state came to East Carolina University to enhance their STEM teaching strategies during the Engineering and Technology Symposium: Pathways to Enhance K-12 STEM Education. My best friend Chris Young was in attendance and raved about how amazing it was! Beyond the ECU College of Engineering and Technology, support for the conference included STEM East, PITT COUNTY SCHOOLS, the NORTH CAROLINA SCIENCE MATHEMATICS AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION CENTER, Cypress Creek Renewables, and Minges Bottling Group. We had some excitement last week at our Durham office with a visit from the White House! Chief Economist for the Invest in America Cabinet Dr. Heather Boushey joined us and state and local elected officials, North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, Deputy North Carolina Secretary of State Tim Crowley, Mayor of Durham Leonardo Williams, Mayor of Morrisville TJ Cawley, and Raleigh City Councilwoman Stormie Forte, JD for a roundtable discussion and tour of our on-site Cypress Creek Control Center. The opportunity to engage with the President's Economic and Advisory Council was deeply valued by our team. Promoting STEM education for young people is a core focus of the good neighbor commitment we have made to the communities where we live and work. This is why we are honored to have grown our Energizing Tomorrow's Leaders Scholarship program to award 81 individual students across 21 counties this year.
