People power social change. Those most affected by failing early childhood systems often make the most impactful leaders, yet developing the confidence and resilience to lead requires dedicated mentoring and time. What works? Grassroots organizers in Ohio are expanding a Child Care Leadership Lab model, in collaboration with Community Change and Child Care for Every Family Network to cultivate at least 250 new child care provider leaders across 10 states (NM, MN, MI, CA, DC, OH, CO, OR, LA, IL) to be leaders in the movement. Join ECFC and The Raising Child Care Fund for discussion with Ohio Organizing Collaborative and Community Change to learn directly from graduates and trainers of the Child Care Leadership Lab model, and hear lessons and experiences coming from this new approach. Leave with ideas about how to build leaders in your own community. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gavQxYmu

We often talk about creating space at the table for community, but what does that really mean? Join ECFC, Strategies for Children and W. Clement & Jessie V. Stone Foundation for a funder discussion on the transferable (and transformative) elements of The 9:30 Call, a daily call series that launched in 2020 during the early weeks of COVID, that has transformed in beautiful ways to become a unifying and inspirational force for the early education and care field. We'll explore the deeper story of creating space for authentic discussions where every voice is equal and valued, and bringing people and systems together to align for shared problem solving and progress. It was an honor to work with the NM Early Childhood Funders Group to bring ECFC membership to New Mexico in May for a deep dive into the history and context of early childhood in New Mexico, key strategies unique to New Mexico, and lessons for other places and communities. W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Every Child Thrives recent post shares highlights of the meeting, including key take-aways and partners who supported our learning journey.
This summer, over 100 early childhood education advocates gathered in Santa Fe, NM, for the annual Early Childhood Funders Collaborative (ECFC) meeting, supported by local partners. From California to Connecticut, attendees learned about the significance of Indigenous history and culture from Dr. Joseph Suina, and the critical milestones in New Mexico’s early childhood policy landscape. Panels highlighted grassroots advocacy, community-based programs and the essential role of philanthropy in sustaining early childhood initiatives. The common theme was clear: unity and collaboration are key to driving impactful change in early childhood education. Let’s continue working together to create opportunities and support our communities. 🌱 https://wkkf.co/deqh
