Thank you to Deputy Administrator Michael Fallahkhair and the National Rural Health Resource Center team for visiting Essentia Health - Sandstone! It was great to discuss how Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS partners with states to protect access to high quality health care in rural communities. We also talked about the unique challenges nonprofit health care is navigating to rebuild the nation’s rural Hill Burton-era hospitals. Thanks for the great tour, Sam Barney and team!

Meet our colleague Sara Anderson, survivorship & community outreach program manager at the Essentia Health Cancer Center in Fargo, North Dakota, whose mission includes spending compassionate one-on-one time with patients during their treatment plan. Sara's calling to make a healthy difference in people's lives includes community efforts around prevention, eduction, and screening events.

This is the third consecutive year St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota, has received the highest possible rating of five stars. Essentia-Duluth and Essentia-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd earned a four-star rating, placing them in the top 27% of the more than 2,800 hospitals rated by CMS nationwide.

Achieving health and vitality in the communities we’re privileged to serve is a team effort, and we love supporting others with the same mission. Essentia Health colleagues recently helped clear garden plots and tear down walls (literally!) at Ecolibrium3’s site for a future small-scale grocery store in Duluth, Minnesota’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. Essentia Health is proud to support the Central Range Pickleball Club in Hibbing, Minnesota, with a contribution of $10,000 to the Bennett Park Pickleball Courts! Renovations have been completed and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last month.
