The weather may have brought our yacht party indoors, but the vibes were still sky-high at our recent ELEVATE event in Chicago! A huge thank you to our amazing co-sponsors, Cloud9 Cannabis and CohnReznick LLP, and to the incredible brand sponsors - Ascend Wellness Holdings (CSE: AAWH.U / OTCQX:AAWH), Jeeter - a DreamFields Brand and Cann - who made the evening happen. It was fantastic connecting with the Illinois cannabis community as this market continues to thrive and expand 🚀 Can't wait for the next one. #ElevateChicago #CannabisCommunity #cannabisevents

GET TO KNOW FLOWERHIRE Ian recruits talent in cannabis Ian Keilty is a Director of Client Services here at FlowerHire 📍Los Angeles, CA FAVORITE POSITION TO PLACE? Customer facing roles - Sales, Marketing, Retail! FAVORITE CANNABIS MARKET OR INTERESTING MARKET? California and Massachusetts. YOUR WHY FOR WORKING IN CANNABIS? To continue to de-stigmatize the plant and this industry, by explaining and breaking pre-conceived notions and "stereotypes" about consuming and working in cannabis. BIGGEST SURPRISE SINCE WORKING IN CANNABIS? How much it has grown since we started this company in 2017. The rate at which the public has accepted the plant and the industry continues to surprise me, but we still have a long way to go! SOMETHING CANNABIS JOB SEEKERS SHOULD KNOW: Working in the cannabis industry is not, and will not be a "scarlet letter" on your resume if you do decide to take a hiatus or leave the industry for more traditional work environments. FUN FACT ABOUT ME: Fusilli pasta is my preferred "tip" when rolling a joint. 🍝 HUMAN SUPERPOWER: Joint rolling. RECRUITING SUPERPOWER: Listening, hearing, and connecting the dots. I like to really learn about a person, their career arc, their why, and take all of that into consideration when looking for the perfect role for that person. IF YOU CONSUME... CANNABIS HELPS ME: With literally everything. It helps me focus, it helps me relax, it helps me be creative, it helps me be introspective, it helps me quiet/drown out the noise, it helps me be more social. Cannabis is just the Great Enhancer - it can make anything better if you know how to harness it. FAVORITE FORM OF CANNABIS: Joints or blunts. Looking to talk cannabis positions in Southern California or Massachusetts? Give Ian a shout!

Is working in the cannabis industry worth the risks? 🌿 In a recent #thatsmywhy profile, Megan Jewett highlighted some of the key perks and risks of working in cannabis. On the upside, you get to work with amazing people and products, be part of a rapidly growing industry, and make a real impact by helping millions avoid more harmful pharmaceutical drugs. However, there are still significant risks, including stigma and bias, challenges in securing housing or loans, and the potential parent stigma if you have children. We’d love to hear from you: Do the perks of working in the cannabis industry outweigh the risks? What do you think? #CannabisIndustry #CareerGrowth #CannabisCommunity

We’re all drawn to the cannabis industry for different reasons. But it’s our ‘why’ that keeps us persevering. For Megan Jewett, a Director of Sales from New York, it’s about fixing the broken pharmaceutical system and bringing the plant to the people. WHAT’S YOUR PERSONAL “WHY” (YOUR PASSION) FOR WORKING IN CANNABIS? Before cannabis, I worked in pharmaceutical sales and experienced firsthand how truly broken the US health care system is. I only heard about the negative side effects of medication, never any positive outcomes. Working in cannabis has been incredibly rewarding because I get to hear from consumers regularly about ways in which it improves their lifestyle. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN CANNABIS? Cannabis isn't just a career; it's a lifestyle and a passion for so many. It's in no way a get rich plan and isn't for the weak of heart, as you are battling so many obstacles. I spent most of my life feeling like an outsider for being a consumer; it's been great to be in an industry with so many like-minded folks that share my passion for the plant. WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY, WHAT PERKS AND/OR RISKS DO YOU SEE? Perks: Great people and awesome products.  Risks: There is still stigma and bias associated with the plant, it can be hard to rent a house or get a car loan. There's also the parent stigma if you have children and work in the industry. HOW DO YOU SEE CANNABIS IMPACTING YOUR COMMUNITY? New York is challenging right now, although there is a thriving cannabis scene, it has been illicit for so long, it's having a hard time transforming into the rec industry, 70% of the market is still legacy. I believe the tax dollars from recreational sales will be incredibly beneficial to communities across the state, as well as the peace of mind from purchasing tested products. #thatsmywhy #cannabisjobs #medicinalcannabis

Last week, Alan Good attended the inaugural Flower Expo Michigan event, where the Midwest cannabis community came together in full force. Over 300 dispensaries and 100 top brands in attendance, and the building was buzzing with energy. Bringing the Midwest’s cannabis community together like this is essential for fostering growth and collaboration. Shoutout to Jason Bello and the entire Flower Expo team for organizing another great event.
