Instead of using barrels of oil, you truck in refined aluminum, which is safer and easier to transport than volatile fossil fuels and doesn’t release carbon and toxic gases. Feed the aluminum into a Found Energy reactor for heat and hydrogen, then send the aluminum oxide back to the smelter for ‘recharging.’ Dan Steingart, chair of the department of Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University, said Found Energy is onto something. Thanks for having us! 🌎 “In the short term, we're taking aluminum waste that is difficult to recycle and we're actually turning it into [alumina trihydrate] - basically shortcutting having to mine bauxite. And it turns out if you do that for a very wide range of feedstocks and processes you're trying to decarbonize, it's actually a carbon-negative process. You're eliminating Scope One emissions through Scope Three. …But in the long term, what we want to do is take that aluminum oxide and go back up the thermodynamic ladder. And if you use electricity to do that - which is basically how all aluminum is made today - then we have what we're calling the world's first rechargeable fuel.” #aluminum #industrialdecarbonization #cleanenergy #sustainability

Yesterday was a good day 🤩 We had a blast introducing Mayor Michelle Wu and her team to our aluminum fuel technology!

Climate Tech in the City brought together the local climate tech community for a day of technology demonstrations, information exchange, networking, and celebration on July 24. This exciting two-part event, hosted by Schneider Electric, the City of Boston, Downtown Boston BID, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, and NECEC, showcased the booming climate tech ecosystem in Boston. Climate Tech on the Plaza took place in City Hall Plaza from 10am to 4pm and featured cutting-edge climate innovations and demonstrations from 30+ climate tech companies. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with key players in the climate tech community and talk with industry experts, policymakers, and thought leaders about the latest trends and innovations in climate tech. Later in the day, the celebration of Boston’s climate tech ecosystem continued at the Climate Tech Block Party in Downtown Crossing, which featured live music, food and drinks, and networking for climate tech enthusiasts and innovators. #climatetech #boston #climateinnovation

Today we had the incredible opportunity to showcase Found Energy's aluminum-thermal power technology to Mayor Michelle Wu in front of Boston City Hall!
