The Foundation for the Los Angeles Community Colleges works to remove barriers to education. We envision a future where all individuals seeking to broaden their knowledge and skills have access to postsecondary education, regardless of their background. The Foundation supports giving and partnerships that advance higher education access and success for the diverse students and communities served by the Los Angeles Community College District. As the largest community college district in the nation, the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) serves more than 200,000 students annually across its nine colleges. The District provides pathways for students seeking transfer to four-year colleges or universities, two-year degrees, and certificate training programs. Collectively, the LACCD’s nine colleges educate nearly twice as many Latinx and African-American students annually than the entire University of California system. About half of all LACCD students report their incomes near or below the poverty line. The scale and services of LACCD provide the Foundation a unique opportunity to support scholarships, programs, and other systems-level efforts that stand to dramatically increase postsecondary access and success in the region and beyond.
