On August 14 at 1 pm ET we're hosting the first virtual network meeting of Funders United for Democracy and Trans Justice (DTJ), a cross-sector space for LGBTQ and democracy-focused funders to respond to the persistent wave of politically fueled anti-trans attacks. Co-hosted by initiative co-chair Funders' Committee For Civic Participation (FCCP), this meeting will orient this network— facilitating connections between participants as they strategize around the threat anti-trans attacks pose to all progressive causes. Our Director of External Affairs, April Bethea, and Director of Research, Samantha Luffy, MPH, collaborated on an opinion piece for Candid. Their analysis shared how even though LGBTQ philanthropy has grown significantly in the last two decades—both cumulatively and year-over-year— an increase in total funding isn’t enough to tell the whole story, especially in the current moment.
