It's International Drag Day, and we're throwing it back to our It Gets Better video with Kyne Santos in support of her new book "Math in Drag." "It's really important to me to show people that you can be an academic and you can be whatever you want. It doesn't matter what you look like. It doesn't matter what you sound like. It only matters what's in your brain and what you bring to the table." #internationaldragday #itgetsbetter #lgbtq #dragqueen #kynesantos

It Gets Better exists to uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ youth around the globe.
About us
In 2010, LGBTQ+ people and their allies all over the world uttered three words that would give rise to a global movement — it gets better. A wildly successful social media campaign was born, with more than 70,000 people sharing their stories to provide hope and encouragement to young LGBTQ+ people. Today, the It Gets Better is a global non-profit that reaches millions of young people each year through inspiring media programming, educational resources, international affiliates in 19 countries, and access to an arsenal of community-based service providers. It Gets Better received an Emmy Award in 2012 and has garnered support from Presidents Obama and Biden, Kerry Washington, Jane Fonda, Kelly Clarkson, Gabrielle Union, Chris and Scott Evans, Mj Rodriguez, Ciara, Jojo Siwa and more than 760,000 others who have taken the pledge to share messages of hope and to speak up against intolerance.

Not sure who needs to hear this today but... The LGBTQ+ community ALL of us! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ That includes those of us who are out and open, folks who aren’t out right now (or ever), people who are just figuring this whole thing out, folks exploring a new label or identity, those of us in various stages of transition or transformation, and anyone who might be wondering whether or not they’re “queer enough.” There is no such things as being "queer enough." Thanks to Queer Chameleon for the reminder that all of us are enough exactly as we are. #itgetsbetter #lgbtq #animation #selfhelp #advice #lgbtqyouth #queeryouth

It Gets Better offers a heartfelt congratulations to Jaymes Black as the new CEO of The Trevor Project. We know that when LGBTQ+ youth find themselves in crisis, there is no better resource to refer them to than Trevor. We cannot wait to see what Jaymes brings to the mix for this essential community service.
To our Trevor community: we are beyond thrilled to introduce you to The Trevor Project’s new CEO, Jaymes Black (they/she/he) 🧡 Jaymes is deeply committed to Trevor’s mission to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people, and brings a diverse leadership background across both nonprofit and corporate sectors that aligns seamlessly with our values of Heart, Integrity, Community, Belonging, and Progress. In addition to their extensive professional accomplishments, Jaymes is making history as Trevor’s first Black, nonbinary, lesbian CEO. Growing up as a queer young person in South Texas, Jaymes’ unique lived experiences provide her with a nuanced understanding of the challenges that LGBTQ+ young people face today. Prior to joining The Trevor Project, Jaymes was the President & CEO of Family Equality, the leading national organization working to ensure that everyone has the freedom to find, form, and sustain their families by advancing LGBTQ+ equality through advocacy, support, storytelling, and education. We are overjoyed to have Jaymes at the helm as we enter this new chapter for The Trevor Project and continue to create a safer, more welcoming world for LGBTQ+ young people to thrive 🧡

The Sims continues to break new ground with progressive updates — polyamory has now been introduced to the game. It Gets Better was honored to work with Electronic Arts (EA) and GLAAD on some of the first in-game updates, including the introduction of pronouns and more. Happy to see the Sims continues to evolve into a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ people. #itgetsbetter #lgbtq #lgbtqyouth #thesims #gaming #equality #pronouns #polyamory

🚨PSA: We’re LOGGING OFF this week! Pride can be energizing, but it’s also a protest - and sometimes, even the most tireless activists experience burnout. So we're taking a digital detox. By logging off, we’re setting the standard for a Queer Week of Rest, with plenty of time to recharge, show ourselves some love and care, and come back reenergized to stand up for LGBTQ+ youth throughout the rest of 2024 - and we encourage you to take a device break, too! In the meantime, swipe for some resources you can access and share while we’re away. See you again on July 8th, and we can’t wait! #itgetsbetter #pride2024 #pride #queerweekofrest #lgbtqyouth #queeryouth #transtyouth #lgbtqactivist #lgbtqally

It Gets Better Executive Director Brian Wenke is an Ad Age Pride Month spotlight. In his guest column, he shares the five questions brands should ask before supporting nonprofits that work with LGBTQ+ youth and what it takes to ‘stand out and stand tall’ in authentic allyship. "Today’s volatile social landscape places corporations at the epicenter of a cultural clash. The rise of anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment not only poses a moral challenge but also a significant business threat. Companies aiming for authentic and meaningful corporate citizenship must navigate these turbulent waters with strategic and ethical clarity. It is crucial to resist pressures that could force a betrayal of foundational principles. Doing so can compromise consumer trust and loyalty while reinforcing the marginalization of an already vulnerable population." #PrideMonth #BrandSupport #brandmarketing #lgbtq #lgbtqyouth #allyship #corporateamerica #corporateengagement #itgetsbetter #nonprofit

It turns out people actually do care what LGBTQ+ youth have to say. Thanks to supporters like you, we are officially SOLD OUT of our latest book! Queerbook has been a true labor of love, and the response has been incredible. Seeing people flock to purchase a book entirely created, curated and edited by LGBTQ+ youth shows that young people are indeed here to change the future for the better — we just have to let them guide the way. Happy Pride Month! #itgetsbetter #lgbtq #bookrelease #queerbook #pridemonth
