On this day, we remember Eric Garner, who was choked to death by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo in Staten Island ten years ago today. Records show that Officer Pantaleo was the subject of seven misconduct complaints prior to Eric’s death. Access to police misconduct records is key to preventing senseless deaths like Eric's. On this day, we remember Eric and continue the fight for a more just system, including advocating for police disciplinary records to be made publicly available and banning qualified immunity.
