Stepwise's solution bridges a complicated yet crucial part of EV ownership: the increased amount of electricity that charging demands from your home electrical system. Today’s electric panels don’t have the built-in intelligence or real-time insights needed to deliver their full electrical capacity: an average U.S. home uses just 4% of its panel’s ampacity rating. ⚡ Stepwise's solution optimizes electrical panels to tap into their full capacity. Its product, EV Tap, balances a home’s energy demand by increasing power sent to an EV charger when other electrical demands are low and vice versa. This modulation enables an EV charger—which could use about 50 amps—to run in a house with a 100-amp electrical panel, with enough ampacity left over for other electricity needs. By automatically shifting and deferring loads, EV Tap allows homeowners to sidestep the costly electrical panel upgrades (which can run up to $10,000) that are typically necessary for home electrification. GreenLabs Recycling is enabling circularity in the #biotech and life sciences industries with its solution that recycles lab plastics that are rejected by traditional recyclers. The plastics are upcycled locally into pipette tip boxes, which scientists can continue to use for years to come. ♻ Learn more about this #GreentownBOS member in its new documentary👇
Did you know that traditional single-stream recycling haulers do not recycle anything that looks like a lab product? Fabulous to see that Sublime Systems cement is set to be used in Vineyard Offshore's offshore wind turbines! Vineyard Wind's proposed project includes $3M in funding for two MA climatetech companies, including a reservation agreement for 2,000 tons of Sublime Cement from the startup's planned production facility in Holyoke. "To be used in working platforms on turbines and onshore civil works, this order of low-carbon cement will reduce the carbon footprint of the Vineyard Wind 2 project while helping Sublime Systems grow in its home state," according to Vineyard Offshore. This partnership is a great example of how startups and corporates can work together alongside state leadership to stoke economic growth while slashing emissions on multiple fronts. Congratulations to the Vineyard Offshore and Sublime Systems teams! Read more in MassLive.com: https://lnkd.in/gcQkrbqw Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/gzgZf2z5

Solar farms are often located in dry, arid regions where dust, sand, and other debris can easily settle on top of solar panels, dramatically reducing the the solar input and in turn, the amount of energy they can generate. Today's solar panel cleaning methods involve lots of labor, time, water, and capital—but Sol Clarity's solution can remove dust and other soiling factors with the flip of a switch. Its electrodynamic screen (EDS) automatically removes dust and improves the energy yield/output power of solar panels without the need to wash the panels with water. "According to a 2018 paper, Sol Clarity expects the EDS system to operate for one to two minutes daily. The paper estimates that less than 1 watt-hour of electricity will be used per square meter per cleaning cycle, allowing for approximately 500 solar modules to be cleaned daily with just 1 kWh of electricity." - pv magazine Global Learn more about the startup's recent pilot deployments and more in pv magazine Global: https://lnkd.in/g_Hu-3HF
