On this World Environment Day, we celebrate the community, the land, and the team that brought our Goleta Energy Storage project to life by premiering this mini-documentary on the project. Working in partnership with local officials to produce tax revenues from an unused urban parcel - while bringing reliable clean energy to a region - are emblematic of our mission to decarbonize America's electric grid and create a better world through battery energy storage. #WorldEnvironmentDay #CleanEnergy #Decarbonization #GenerationRestoration #BatteryEnergyStorage City of Goleta #Goleta

GridStor's VP of Policy & Strategy, Jason Burwen, spoke earlier this week in defense of open access principles at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission technical conference on further reforms to the interconnection process in the U.S. With over 2,000 GW of large-scale power projects—much of it battery storage—waiting in years-long lines to get connected to the transmission system, accelerating interconnection is critical to enabling aging plants to retire and sustain system reliability. Jason outlined the key limiting principles to protect open access while making practical compromises to speed the logjam: (1) any rationing mechanism should the least possible compromise needed to accomplish the job and (2) criteria for rationing should be in the control of interconnection customers to make decisions, rather than giving transmission providers that decision-making power. Read more of Jason's remarks, and the panel's discussion through Ethan Howland's Utility Dive reporting at the link in the comments. #Interconnection #ElectricGrid #EnergyStorage #OpenAccess #RTO

Texas is handling hot weather and record energy demand without disruptions, thanks to the addition of new power resources like large-scale battery storage. That means homes and businesses can count on their air conditioners running to keep cool. With more than 3 GW of batteries powering the Texas grid earlier this week, the state did not call for residents to conserve energy like it did in August 2023, despite an all-time record demand. We're eager to contribute to this added reliability in ERCOT through our 220 MW Houston-area project, slated to come online in summer 2025.
