This program supports supplemental awards to outstanding U.S. graduate students to conduct part of their graduate thesis research at a DOE national laboratory or facility in collaboration with a scientist for a period of 3 to 12 consecutive months. Each awardee is eligible to receive a monthly stipend and travel expenses directly associated with the SCGSR research project during the award period. Small modular reactors could be ideal to recharge large vehicles, like electric semi-trucks, according to a University of Michigan study supported by INL’s Emerging Energy Markets Analysis. 🔋⚡ Most EV studies assume electricity will always come from the electric grid. This was the first study to consider small modular reactors and other distributed energy resources, including microreactors and hydrogen, as energy sources.
