Last week, Registered Dietitian Elizabeth Calvelage and Senior Market Access Leader Ryan Davis, were part of a Food as Medicine panel at the 125th Cincinnati Open Fan Zone. They chatted with Tallon Griekspoor, professional tennis player on the power of food and nutrition on health and wellness and shared the benefits of Kroger Boost membership as back-to-school season arrives. Elizabeth and Kroger Chef Mike Florea then prepared and served a delicious farro salad recipe with attendees. The Kroger Wellness Festival will be making its return on Sept. 27 and 28 at a new location in Downtown Cincinnati on Fifth Street. We will be welcoming several celebrities including our headlining concert music artists, Third Eye Blind and Jason Derulo. Our free health and wellness festival celebrates physical, mental and emotional health for the whole family. The festival will showcase more than 200 experiences and food offerings focused on six core pillars of transformation: balance, breathe, care, move, play and uplift. That is why we are advocating for the Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act (H.R. 1770/S. 2477). Last weekend, Bayer, Kroger, Kroger Health and Feeding America joined country star Luke Bryan as part of the Take Care, Now campaign to highlight our collaborative efforts to bring healthy foods and resources to more people. This year, we're working on raising awareness, educating communities and facilitating access to nutritious food, vitamins and minerals. We were honored that Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Fran DeWine celebrated with us as we announced this initiative that has the potential to reach hundreds of food banks and thousands Feeding America agencies, food pantries and meal programs. Together we are committed to reaching more people and helping improve health outcomes.

Our Kroger Health General Office team has supported the United Way of Greater Cincinnati’s Backpacks for Success program for the past three years. Each year, our associates have generously donated to the backpack giveaway, helping lay the foundation for Greater Cincinnati students to have a successful school year! We love supporting local community organizations and can't wait to participate in #BackpacksForSuccess next year!

We’re proud to recognize our president, Colleen Lindholz, and our national health and wellness director on special assignment, Laura Raney, for being honored as Mass Market Retailers Most Influential Women in 2024.   Colleen was honored for her role in overseeing a team of 24,000 associates including pharmacists, nurse practitioners, dietitians and technicians who staff more than 2,200 pharmacies and over 220 clinics in 35 states. Laura was also honored for her work on Project Passion, providing a springboard for our pharmacists to explore their passion for the profession, serving patients, leading high-performing teams and fostering a culture that embodies our vision and mission.   Congratulations to both on this well-deserved honor!
