I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with an incredible team at McAdams in Charlotte, NC. This experience has been both challenging and rewarding, especially as my family remained in Manhattan, KS. Despite the distance, I’ve gained invaluable insights into the culture and operations of this remarkable firm. More importantly, I’ve learned a great deal about myself and my mental health. Charlotte has truly become a special place for me. The warmth and hospitality of the people here created an ideal environment for professional growth. No matter how busy things got, everyone was willing to take the time to help when I had questions. McAdams’ commitment to fostering a strong educational atmosphere not only made me a better intern but also underscored the importance of collaboration and mentorship in the workplace. During my time here, I was entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities, including a project that I took from concept all the way to the permitting phase—an opportunity that most interns don’t typically experience. This empowered me to apply my skills and develop strategies to become a more efficient and effective team member. As I prepare for my final year at Kansas State University, I’m more confident than ever in my professional path. I want to extend special thanks to Dan Lambert, PLA, ASLA, Kristen Mansfield, and Beth Powell for their guidance and continuous support throughout my internship. Their mentorship has not only shaped my approach to my work but also inspired me to be a better mentor to others in the future. To the entire Landscape Architecture department, thank you for your assistance and for helping me strengthen my skills. I’m looking forward to finishing my last year at Kansas State strong and earning my diploma. But above all, I can’t wait to return home to Manhattan, KS, to be with my wife and two amazing daughters.
