When Dr. Valenzuela met Silvia and Celva, she knew #clubfoot treatment would be complicated at their age. The team at the Regional Hospital of Concepción decided the sisters could be treated using the Ponseti method—not the expensive surgery the girls had always assumed would be necessary. Although they would become the oldest patients the clinic had ever treated, Silvia, Celva, and Dr. Valenzuela were up for the challenge. Apart from their bond as twins, another factor connects Silvia and Celva: both were born with clubfoot. 👶👶👣 The midwife who attended their birth noted there was a problem with their feet, but didn't elaborate. Their parents—a homemaker and an agricultural worker raising eight children—didn't have resources to pay for the complicated surgery they assumed was necessary. After living with untreated clubfoot for 24 years, the trajectory of Silvia and Celva's life changed forever when they discovered another option: https://lnkd.in/gq7DzxQr

Mothers and fathers know and care about their children like no one else. Since 2019, we've partnered with 60 Decibels to hear from the families we support. Their feedback helps us better understand the impact of #clubfoot treatment, including where and how we serve families well and where there's room to improve.
