Fiscal Sponsorship Update: PG Changemakers We’re excited to share an update from PG ChangeMakers, one of the projects we fiscally sponsor at Mission Edge. In collaboration with Life After Release and the Prince George's Food Equity Council, they continue to lead the “Food in Jails Should Heal, Not Harm” campaign. This initiative aims to transform the carceral food environment, making food a source of healing rather than harm—not only for those incarcerated but for everyone involved in the food value chain. Their work focuses on creating and promoting procurement policies that ensure food is ethically sourced, sustainable, and healthy, with direct input from those impacted, including food workers, farmers, and communities affected by food production. They’re also dedicated to supporting programs that allow incarcerated individuals to grow and prepare healthy food, providing opportunities for job training and certifications in agriculture. At the heart of effective Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives is creativity. Donation drives are great, but we REALLY get excited about asking the hard questions, like “how can we partner with you to create lasting change?” We recently worked with San Diego Gas & Electric to help facilitate that creativity with a local nonprofit. The results? We put eight SDG&E interns to work in setting up a better task management system for the nonprofit.  This newfound visibility and accountability allowed the nonprofit’s team to better see how their individual work streams contributed to the organization's overall mission. 👏Now *that’s* what we call “going about corporate social responsibility”… Well, responsibly!  Read more: https://lnkd.in/gAPVUVxt #sandiegobusiness #sandiego #businessfinance #missionedge #blog

This award honors leaders of color who have made significant contributions to their communities through clean energy advocacy and environmental justice. In 2021, Catalyst Kitchens sought a fiscal sponsor who could help them go from a “project” to a 501c(3) organization. Mission Edge was the perfect fit.
