Drinking decaffeinated coffee, like drinking all kinds of coffee, is associated with many unique health benefits, including increased longevity and decreased risk of multiple cancers and chronic diseases. Read more at https://lnkd.in/gUeHK43Y
Did you see the coffee news yesterday (July 30, 2024)? The New York Times asks "Is Decaffeinated Coffee Bad for You?" in an article by Katie Mogg. As the article says, “In short, the answer is no…” and: “ 'There’s no health hazard, in my opinion, associated with drinking decaffeinated coffee',” Dr. Kuhl said." (Dr. Tonya Kuhl is the chair of the chemical engineering department at the University of California, Davis.) Not only is all decaf safe, it has many of the same benefits as caffeinated #coffee. More Coffee, Regular or Decaf, Less Type II Diabetes! Coffee is one of the world's most extensively studied foods - but making sense of all that research can be overwhelming, especially since today's headlines are designed to trigger anxiety: “Doomscrolling” much, anyone? This is why Literature Reviews, or "studies of studies," are so powerful - they involve researchers looking at many prior works to identify broad conclusions. Like, for example, a just-released Literature Review from South Africa which examined hundreds of individual coffee studies covering the health of hundreds of thousands of individuals. What did this massive literature review conclude? “Available evidence indicates that long-term consumption of coffee is associated with decreased risk of Type 2 Diabetes and its complications as well as decreased body weight.” And if you’ve seen scary, fact-free insinuations about chemicals in your decaf? The South African researchers noted “…both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee are associated with reducing the risks of T2D.” National Coffee Association USA has an exciting project in the works that will help raise awareness of the linkage between #coffee and good health...but you’ll have to wait a few months to learn more. In the meantime, remember to look past the click bait, pour yourself another cup of coffee, decaf or regular, and read this latest study at https://lnkd.in/e3-ZPXiU BTW: NCA did not provide funding for this study, or any of those referenced by the researchers, nor have any contact with any of the researchers. It's a litigious jungle out there! Thanks to the National Coffee Association USA for putting this type of content out there. Great info. It doesn't matter what you're manufacturing, packaging, selling, etc., I got three words for ya...."Seek Legal Counsel!" "Food and beverage products continue to be popular targets of the consumer class action plaintiffs’ bar, with new cases alleging false labeling or advertising filed almost daily. As relevant to coffee products in particular, there has been a high level of class action activity in three areas: sustainability and other ESG (environmental, social, governance) claims, statements about serving size or the number of servings per container, and product source." #productlabeling #packaging #Lawsuitprevention #riskmanagement

In an article published today by Comunicaffe International, NCA President and CEO William Murray shared his insights into the coffee market at large. Bill said, "Our consumer research shows there’s really no limit to coffee’s opportunities. Coffee is associated with unique health benefits, is popular across every age group, succeeds in a wide variety of retail and food service settings, and can adapt to diverse tastes… Coffee is more than a beverage; it’s a touchstone in people’s lives, and I don’t expect that to change.” Read the article here: https://nca.link/3zxNNNH
