NeighborShare

Civic and Social Organizations

A digital platform that connects neighbors who need help with neighbors who want to help.

Über uns

NeighborShare is a rapidly growing digital platform that helps local nonprofits connect households in need directly with neighbors who are eager to share. It makes it easier for the organizations to highlight specific, validated cases of need and resolve them quickly. We know that there are many people who want to help but don't know where to start. And we also know that there are many nonprofit organizations eager to identify new resources for neighbors who are slipping through the cracks. NeighborShare is here to help make that connection. For nonprofit organizations: We tell your stories on a far reaching digital platform that will create a brand new source of donations for your organization. For donors: We provide vetted and real stories of families in need who will directly receive all of the money you donate.

As a tech platform, we are always aiming for the next feature or product enhancement that will make it even easier to help a neighbor in need. As a nonprofit, we are always looking for creative and cost-effective ways to get it done. Thanks to an awesome pro-bono Hack4Impact team of University of Pennsylvania students led by Ethan Weisberg and Santiago Garcia Santos, you can now explore NeighborShare’s reach via our new interactive map at www.nbshare.org. Since we source and validate each neighborly need via trusted nonprofits on the ground, you can now more easily identify those partner nonprofits, what they do, and where they are located. The heart of the NeighborShare mission is to connect neighbors who can help with neighbors who need help and each new platform feature will make that even easier. We love our incredible volunteers who power our platform, help create innovative partnerships, write and design content, and support our neighbors. These volunteers form our own connected neighborhood of incredibly talented, committed, and mission-driven people using their talent for good. Do you know someone who would be a great addition to our powerhouse team? Drop it below! 👇 #volunteers #techforgood #neighbors

Thank you. In a year that's felt particularly challenging for so many, your kindness and generosity have been a light. Thank you for helping Jack, a 49-year-old veteran, secure stable housing. Thank you for helping Judy, a newly single mom, with a childcare bridge. Thank you for your gifts, and for the social media shares, and for spreading kindness through your own communities. From a NeighborShare perspective, we have distributed three quarters of a million dollars to date meet the needs of 8,500 of our neighbors across the country. Thank you for easing the burden for so many. We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment but the work doesn’t end here. With this community behind us, we will double down on support for our neighbors in 2024. We know many people are finalizing year-end gifts. If you’re in that boat, we would be truly honored if you would consider a financial gift to NeighborShare. General donors help us backstop requests and ensure every single need on the site gets met quickly – every contribution helps! Earlier this year, we shared the idea that nobody can do everything, but we can all do something. Thank you for all the somethings you did this year - it matters deeply. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2024. Your friends at NeighborShare 💙 #neighborsharing #kindness #neighborshelpingneighbors #thankyou

Check out this great blog from our partners at the MassMutual Foundation for a few ideas on how to give back over the holidays. Spoiler alert: one is helping a family in need through NeighborShare! 💙 #holidaygiving #neighborsharing

The holidays inspire many of us to do a lot of things with increased fervor: spend more time with family and friends, shop for gifts, eat anything remotely related to chocolate within reach... and importantly, provide for those less fortunate than ourselves. Recently, I had the privilege to co-author a MassMutual blog post with my very talented colleague Shelly Gigante on ways to think about this season of charitable giving and how best to give back according to your own personal financial disposition and preferences. You can check our our blog post here: https://lnkd.in/ecs7Qj9c #charitablegiving #holidayseason

Our friends at GivingTuesday just launched this incredible new resource - a quarterly report on the state of giving in America. There are so many interesting nuggets inside. For example, giving cash directly to a person in need was the most common donation method in Q3 of 2023. We're inspired by GivingTuesday's continued innovations to provide value to the entire social sector. Well done, friends. 💙

As world events and economic shifts influence the social sector, it can be difficult to get a clear, complete, up-to-date picture of giving behavior. That’s why today, we’re thrilled to be launching our first GivingPulse quarterly report, with the generous support of the Fidelity Charitable® Trustees Initiative. Our GivingPulse survey tracks individual generous interactions that go beyond just financial donations to formal nonprofits. In GivingPulse, we combine all giving behaviors with a spectrum of demographic and attitudinal traits to present a complete picture of who is donating time, treasure, talent, or influence, who they are donating to, and what motivates them to get, and remain, involved. This survey is designed to offer the social sector an accurate, up-to-date, survey reflecting the state of giving in America and how it is evolving over time. With this information, change-makers, nonprofits, and researchers can more effectively engage with shifting giving sentiment and better understand the landscape of generosity in which they reside. In our inaugural GivingPulse report, we found several key trends that impacted Q3 in 2023: - Giving Groups: We found that respondents could be clustered into three “giving groups”, based on their giving behaviors: high, medium, and low generosity. - Situational Giving: Participation in giving behavior declined in Q3 (by 8-16%), across both in-person and online giving. - World Events: The Maui, Hawaii wildfire was the top concern for US citizens in Q3, followed by natural disasters in Morocco and Libya.
