The Color of Tech: You're Hired! (Presented by Develop for Good) Topic: Recruitment Strategies and Practices for a Diverse Tech Future The Color of Tech is a virtual conversation about diversity in tech spaces—particularly the lack of representation when it comes to African American and LatinX communities. This panel event focuses on recruitment and hiring practices. If we hope to improve diversity in the tech workforce, we must explore strategies and practices for recruiting diverse professionals. Let’s give it up for our Summer 2024 students and mentors 🎉🥳 Since April 2020, Develop for Good has engaged 2,700+ college students and mentors across nearly 200 tech projects for nonprofits. Our students are collectively affiliated with more than 300 different college campuses, and our industry mentors represent over 120 different companies. Notably, 83% of the students we’ve served are underserved or underrepresented in tech! Last week, we were invited to The White House Summit on STEMM Equity and Excellence. Develop for Good was selected as an Alliance Partner to the first U.S. National Strategy to achieve STEMM parity by 2050! 🇺🇸 Co-hosted by The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the STEMM Opportunity Alliance, the Summit unveiled the Biden-Harris Administration’s multi-sector actions to help 20M people from historically excluded and marginalized communities enter, contribute to, and thrive in STEMM fields. Develop for Good is honored and excited to contribute to this national goal by providing real-world tech project experiences to diverse college students at scale. We believe that diversity is a competitive advantage, and that providing more STEMM opportunities for people of all backgrounds is essential to achieving our greatest aspirations as a nation. This April, Develop for Good surpassed receiving 10,300+ volunteer applications, marking a major milestone in this year’s Global Volunteer Month! 🌎 🩷 We are eternally grateful for all the brilliant and compassionate college tech students and industry professionals who have raised their hand to build and donate their skills to nonprofits.
