This week, Osborne's Sharon Livingston and Michelle Portlock, along with Fadumo Abdi of Child Trends, presented research on the impact of the Prepare and Prepare Plus programs at the 2024 National Fatherhood Summit. They provide workforce training and job placement for people returning from incarceration plus healthy relationship and parenting education, parent-child outings, and guidance to support the parent-child bond. We are proud of this work and the achievements of our program participants!

On July 25, Tanya Krupat, Osborne Vice President of Policy & Advocacy, and Dior Lindsey, Program Manager for FamilyWorks Buffalo, presented to about 35 Probation professionals at the New York State Probation Officers Association (NYSPOA) conference. Our workshop focused on the topic of "Safeguarding and Interacting with Children." Thank you to our co-presenters and NYSPOA Board members, Russ Zocco and Lisa Geier, for their support.

On Monday, we announced Liberty Landing with Governor Hochul and Camber Property Group. The $108 million project will transform the former Bayview Correctional Facility into 124 affordable housing units. Approximately 74 of the units will become supportive housing for people returning from incarceration. Osborne will serve these individuals by providing onsite services including job training, family and relationship coaching, independent living skills training, and wellness services like nutrition education and chronic disease management. Today, we were thrilled to join Governor Kathy Hochul Camber Property Group in announcing Liberty Landing—a $108 million project that will transform the former Bayview Correctional Facility into 124 affordable housing units and a vibrant community hub. Out of these 124 units, 74 will be dedicated to supportive housing and wrap-around programming for the formerly incarcerated. "These services will be provided by the Osborne Association, which has the reputation and the decades of experience operating supportive housing that breaks the cycle of recidivism and ensures that our New Yorkers returning back have the tools and resources they need to survive and thrive.," said Governor Kathy Hochul. "Safe and stable housing is demonstrated to be one of the most critical factors in successful reentry and avoiding incarceration ... we will help create a caring community, one where residents find support from professionals and peers, and where the journey to reentry will begin with dignity and hope," said Jon Monsalve, President and CEO of Osborne Association. We commend Kathy Hochul for her commitment to housing, mental health, and innovative projects to make New York more affordable.

Tonight, Osborne, Brooklyn Workforce Innovations, Drive Change, and Cases, recipients of this year's third annual Belong Brooklyn initiative by the John and Clara Tsai Social Justice Fund for Brooklyn, will be honored at the New York Liberty game! This year's Belong Brooklyn initiative emphasizes employment equity, via workforce readiness and re-entry programs, as a means of belonging. Osborne Interim President and Chief Executive Officer, Jon Monsalve, Executive Vice President and Chief Program Officer, Michelle Howard, and a few other staff will be present at tonight's game, and a video about employment equity featuring grantees will play on the jumbotron. Check out this AIA New York | Center for Architecture article that highlights the amazing transformation of a 117-year-old Bronx building into our Fulton Community Reentry Center. Renovated in partnership with Curtis + Ginsberg Architects, the building recently re-opened to welcome men returning from incarceration. Built in 1907, the seven-story, 63,000-square-foot building has served various roles: church, nursing home, drug treatment facility, and most recently a state-run minimum-security correctional facility until 2011. Now, Fulton is a unique shelter operated in partnership with the NYC Department of Social Services offering transitional housing for formerly incarcerated men over 50.
