Earlier this summer we joined Altshuler Berzon LLP and Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC in filing a landmark class action discrimination lawsuit against Apple. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of two female employees, claims Apple violated California law by systematically paying women less than men for similar work, and by perpetuating gender pay discrimination through its performance evaluations. "Whistleblowers put their careers on the line to expose massive fraud and corruption, helping the government recover billions of dollars annually. They deserve the full weight of our legal system behind them." Our partner Tammy Marzigliano wrote an article for Bloomberg Law discussing the lack of anti-retaliation protections under the Justice Department's new corporate whistleblower awards program. While DOJ has admirable goals, it should work with whistleblower advocates to strengthen protections for those who report corporate crimes, Tammy writes. She also urges Congress to step in and establish a statutory mechanism to ensure whistleblowers' identities are kept confidential.

Almost 2/3 of adults between the ages 45 and 59 believe their age puts them at a disadvantage when looking for work. And nearly half of all American workers believe there's age discrimination in the workplace. There are nearly 600,000 DACA recipients in the U.S., and each of them is entitled to fair consideration when they apply for a student or home loan, or any type of consumer credit. Over the past four years, we stepped outside of the employment law arena to advance this larger civil rights issue with our co-counsel MALDEF - Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
