Bringing physical and spiritual aid to hurting people worldwide.

Über uns

Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. For 40 years, Samaritan's Purse has done our utmost to follow Christ's command by going to the aid of the world's poor, sick, and suffering. We are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, earns us a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Our emergency relief programs provide desperately needed assistance to victims of natural disaster, war, disease, and famine. As we offer food, water, and temporary shelter, we meet critical needs and give people a chance to rebuild their lives. Our community development and vocational programs in impoverished villages and neighborhoods help people break the cycle of poverty and give them hope for a better tomorrow. We impact the lives of vulnerable children through educational, feeding, clothing, and shelter programs that let them know they are not forgotten. We provide first-class treatment in the Name of the Great Physician through our medical projects, as well as supplying mission hospitals with much needed equipment and supplies.

This afternoon, our Mission Aviation Services team sent our DC-8 aircraft to Vietnam, loaded with 3,000 kits of supplies to aid those suffering in the wake of a catastrophic Typhoon Yagi. Come on board the DC-8 with Jim Vechery, Director of Airlift Operations, as he shares more about this mission. As the crew makes their way to Vietnam, please be praying without ceasing for all those impacted by Yagi. If you feel moved to support our team as we strive to comfort and encourage Vietnam we invite you to do so here: https://sampur.se/3Xq2Xwv #Typhoonyagi #prayforvietnam #vietnam #samaritanspurse #humanitarianaid

Hurricane Francine made landfall along the Louisiana coast on Wednesday, Sept. 11, packing sustained 100-mph winds and pushing dangerous storm surge inland. The Category 2 storm damaged homes, toppled trees, and flooded neighborhoods in the south-central region of the state. We are sending a tractor trailer filled with relief supplies and equipment along with additional support vehicles, from our Southwest Ministry Center in Coppell, Texas. Just days after landfall, Samaritan’s Purse is responding to a deadly cyclone in Vietnam with emergency equipment and supplies. Catastrophic floods and landslides triggered by Typhoon Yagi have killed nearly 200 people and displaced many thousands of residents in Vietnam since the cyclone made landfall last Saturday. Sustained wind speeds near 100 mph ripped apart homes and businesses in Yen Bai Province, while torrential downpours caused rivers to overflow and massive boulders to fall in the mountainous region. Though the storm has passed, floodwaters have yet to subside and many dozens of people are still missing. Northern Vietnam has not seen a storm of this magnitude in decades. Please pray for the people of northern Vietnam in the aftermath of this devastating storm. Pray for Samaritan’s Purse staff in the country as our response begins. Dr. Rita Miranda is a dedicated internal medicine physician serving with World Medical Mission. She began her journey with World Medical Mission in 2013 and has primarily served in Kenya, Baraka, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Initially, she joined as a short-term medical missionary, providing much-needed relief to long-term doctors in challenging environments. Dr. Miranda discovered World Medical Mission unexpectedly. “I actually googled it. I didn’t know anyone who had served with them. I just knew something was missing in my life. I was doing everything I thought I was supposed to do. God called me to be a doctor—check. He called me to be faithful in my community—check. But still, something felt off. Then, the Holy Spirit guided my fingers during a Google search, and I found World Medical Mission. I sent an inquiry, and my life hasn’t been the same since,” she shared. Dr. Miranda faced a significant challenge when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at a young age. This diagnosis temporarily took her away from the mission field. “I thought I was doing everything right. But during what I consider the worst time of my life, God was actually molding and shaping me into the best version of myself. Last year, He put me back on the field as a walking testimony to His goodness. Everyone who prayed for me—the long-term missionaries and the hospital staff—witnessed God’s faithfulness. The version of myself that emerged from that dark time is a much stronger, spiritually mature doctor, and I now have more confidence because God was right there with me,” she said. Throughout her time in the field, God has worked in extraordinary ways in Dr. Miranda’s life. “Because I travel solo, my experience as a medical missionary is different from those who might travel with a family. I rely heavily on God’s favor to bring me into community, to help me connect with locals, and to refine my fellowship with people who aren’t like me. Every time I arrive, I’m by myself, so I have to be intentional about building relationships within the local community. And God has always delivered,” she shared. We are so thankful that God brought Dr. Miranda to Samaritan's Purse to serve with World Medical Mission and appreciate her service and the excellence she shows in her work. Please lift her up in prayer this week as she continues to follow the Lord in obedience and serve those in need. She has specifically asked that you be in prayer for: -The new cancer wing in Kijabe Hospital in Kenya to bring hope and healing, in the Name of Jesus, to every single patient that is treated there. -The long-term missionaries who have dedicated their lives to serving; for their health to be sustained. -Her own health and sustained remission from cancer so that she can continue service in short-term medical mission trips.
