  • My name is Pam Erickson. I am a social worker at Southern NH Medical Center. In a hospital setting, social workers play a crucial role in offering support, advocacy, and resources to patients and their families during times of illness, trauma, or distress. We assess patients' psychosocial needs, provide counseling and emotional support, and facilitate communication between patients, families, and medical teams to ensure comprehensive care. Additionally, social workers assist with discharge planning, connect patients with community resources for ongoing support, and help navigate complex healthcare systems. Our primary goal is to enhance the overall well-being and quality of life for patients and their families by addressing social, emotional, and practical concerns during their journey with Southern NH Medical Center. I became a social worker at the hospital because I have a heart for people who need encouragement, resources, and answers, especially during challenging times! I believe God has given me talents and abilities and has allowed me to use these in my role as a social worker. I love being able to encourage and help people in crisis and difficult life circumstances. Being a social worker is a very rewarding and fulfilling job for me. #KnowYourProvider

  • Hello. My name is Jessica Matthews. I am a registered nurse in the emergency department of Southern NH Medical Center. As a registered nurse in the emergency department, my role involves quickly assessing and treating patients who come in with various urgent health issues. I manage everything from injuries and heart attacks to severe allergic reactions, providing immediate care and stabilizing patients. My work requires critical thinking, strong clinical skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Additionally, I have special certifications, including SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner), which allows me to provide compassionate and specialized care to victims of sexual assault, ensuring they receive the support and medical attention they need. I became an emergency room RN after seeing the impactful work they do while working as an EMT. I grew up in a medical family and always knew I wanted to work in medicine. My mom was an emergency room RN at Southern NH Medical Center for 14 years, and I was lucky to be able to work with her at the beginning of my career here. Southern has always felt like an extension of my family. I love being an ER nurse because I feel like I can truly make a difference in people’s lives.

  • Hello. My name is Sierra Brown. I am the lead X-ray technologist at Southern NH Medical Center. An X-ray technologist specializes in the use of X-ray equipment to capture images of the body's internal structures. We are responsible for preparing patients for radiographic examinations, ensuring they are positioned correctly to obtain the most accurate images while minimizing radiation exposure. We operate complex imaging machinery, follow strict safety protocols, and maintain detailed records of the procedures performed. X-ray technologists work closely with radiologists, who are doctors who interpret the images to diagnose injuries, diseases, and other medical conditions. Our expertise is crucial in emergency situations, trauma cases, operating rooms, routine diagnostic procedures, and providing critical information that guides treatment decisions. Importantly, X-ray technologists are trained to provide compassionate patient care, explain procedures, address concerns, and ensure a comfortable experience. This contributes significantly to the overall patient-centered care delivery in a hospital. I became an X-ray tech because I greatly enjoy serving and becoming a friendly face for my patients in any scenario. From emergency traumas and operating room procedures to routine outpatient exams, I strive to be the familiar face to help make my patients as comfortable as possible while obtaining the best diagnostic images. I love it because I work with an incredible group of imaging professionals who consistently strive for the highest level of patient care daily.

  • Yvonne is a dedicated emergency room nurse at Southern NH Medical Center, where she cares for individuals without routine healthcare, those experiencing their worst days, and everything in between. Her journey at SNHMC began as a teen volunteer in the messenger office and ER, inspiring her to pursue a career in healthcare. She became a phlebotomist at SNHMC six years ago. She enjoyed her time in the ED, and later took a secretary job there to make a greater impact in an effort to be a useful part of that team. During the COVID pandemic, Yvonne attended nursing school and earned her ASN while working as an LNA on 4 West inpatient unit and the ER simultaneously. She began her nursing career before the new grad residency program began and was able to help with the emergency department orientation for new grads, eventually completing the residency program herself. Yvonne loves the “organized chaos” of the emergency room, taking pride in helping make sense of challenging and dynamic situations. She values her coworkers as family, bonded by intense situations and mutual support. Outside of work, Yvonne and her husband are active members of a Harley Davidson owners’ group, traveling as far as Milwaukee and Canada. Yvonne's dedication to SNHMC is unwavering: “My life has always been at Southern. It’s my home, and I love it.” Thank you, Yvonne, for sharing your time and talents with our Southern NH Health community!
