Our very own Software Developer, Kenny Jackelen, was recently on the Effectively Wild podcast with Ben Lindbergh and Meg Rowley to discuss the possibility of Danny Jansen playing for two different teams (the Blue Jays and Red Sox) in the same game. Check out the podcast Negro Leaguers in Puerto Rico, hosted by our very own Director of Design and Product Management, Adam Darowski, and Jorge Colón Delgado, the official historian of the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (also known as the Puerto Rican Winter League). Their podcast dives into the untold stories of players in the LBPRC who also played in the Negro Leagues. The latest episode covers the 1954-55 Santurce Cangrejeros Team, which featured Willie Mays and a young Roberto Clemente in the island's capital, San Juan. Regarded as one of the best Latin American teams ever, what names were a part of its history? And what impact did Santurce and teams in the region have on the sport? We get a lot of questions about our Negro Leagues data. The Negro Leagues were major leagues, but they were definitely not the same as the AL & NL. Those differences are important to recognize and celebrate. This new page aims to do that. The page answers questions like: Which Negro Leagues are classified as major? Why are the Negro Leagues classified as major? How was the Negro Leagues data on Baseball Reference recorded? Which games are included in the Negro Leagues data set? Why do Negro League players and teams have fewer games per season? Why do some Negro League players (or teams) have gaps in their records? How many home runs did Josh Gibson hit? How do Negro League leaderboard qualifications work? Where does Josh Gibson appear on the all-time leaderboards? How does the Negro Leagues data differ from other major league data? What updates have been made to the Negro Leagues data? Have more questions? Please let us know. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gCGnYGJ7
