Abby Hanson is in our intern spotlight today! This is what she had to say about her experience this summer: “I've loved getting to see positive change come to the communities of my home state. Whether it’s an affordable housing project or an anti-loneliness initiative, the work that OCRA and its partners do makes Hoosiers' lives better. As an intern, I've had several opportunities to travel and meet the local government leaders who are managing these projects on a municipal or county scale. Seeing their passion and positive impact has been very inspiring.” -Abby Hanson, Office of Community and Rural Affairs Abby contributed to the Stellar Pathways Program which is a multi-agency initiative that helps rural communities achieve community and economic development. She’s continuing her Master’s of Public Affairs program at Indiana University this fall. #internship #WorkForIndiana

“One of my main projects this summer [was] reviewing the State Disaster Relief Fund program—which offers Hoosiers aid in the time of disaster. I worked on a presentation that examined how the fund would work given different scenarios across the state.” Eden Krumholz, Governor's Summer Intern for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Eden graduated from Florida State University in May and will be moving to London for six months to be a Program Assistant for FSU London. Animal Health Specialist Brandi Hardin (pictured with the rubber chicken) was reminded of her 13-year-old self earlier this summer. The Indiana Department of Child Services, in partnership with the National Center for Peer Support and Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, has launched an innovative peer support service to help its staff manage the daily challenges of child welfare work. The Worker2Worker program offers a free and confidential hotline to better support frontline DCS staff, who routinely experience highly stressful situations where the welfare of children is at stake.
