State government is more than senators, representatives, and elected officials. We build highways, provide drivers licenses, protect our children and vulnerable populations, create jobs, connect Hoosiers to job opportunities, maintain state parks, train law enforcement officers, and we run museums and hospitals. We also provide unemployment insurance, disability, and workers compensation, among countless other services. We're 30,000 strong and still have more work to do. Find out where you fit with us at WorkForIndiana.IN.gov.

“The single most exciting thing I've done is visit the ORX [Ohio River Crossing] site down in Evansville. Seeing archeologists actively working to uncover an Indigenous site was so rewarding and an experience I will take with me forever. As an Early American historian, I still can't believe I actually got to see that!” -Haley Martin, Indiana Department of Transportation intern. Haley also worked to determine if INDOT owned garages had potential for the National Register of Historic Places and will graduate from West Virginia University in December with an M.A. in Public History. #WorkForIndiana #internship #internspotlight

“This summer, I [researched] potential changes to tax policy and [analyzed] the economic impact of adopting such changes…Even though my role is a small part in the large machine, it feels great to be part of the cogs of change that will benefit Hoosier taxpayers and businesses!”- Dylan Schutte, Indiana Department of Revenue intern. Dylan’s favorite part of the internship was meeting with state government officials like Tax Court Judge Justin McAdam and he returned to Indiana University this semester to continue studying policy analysis, economics and political science. Thanks for spending your summer with us, Dylan! #WorkForIndiana #intern #internship

Abby Hanson is in our intern spotlight today! This is what she had to say about her experience this summer: “I've loved getting to see positive change come to the communities of my home state. Whether it’s an affordable housing project or an anti-loneliness initiative, the work that OCRA and its partners do makes Hoosiers' lives better. As an intern, I've had several opportunities to travel and meet the local government leaders who are managing these projects on a municipal or county scale. Seeing their passion and positive impact has been very inspiring.” -Abby Hanson, Office of Community and Rural Affairs Abby contributed to the Stellar Pathways Program which is a multi-agency initiative that helps rural communities achieve community and economic development. She’s continuing her Master’s of Public Affairs program at Indiana University this fall. #internship #WorkForIndiana
