Today is a major step forward for STEM education as the National STEM Week bill has officially been introduced in Congress, thanks to the leadership of Representatives Mike Carey and Joyce Beatty, and the tireless efforts of COSI - Center of Science and Industry , EXPLR, and a coalition of over 20 STEM organizations over the past few months to shape this legislation. At STEM Next Opportunity Fund, we've long believed that STEM learning is for everyone, everywhere, and we work every day to advance that vision by supporting out-of-school-time STEM programming. An annual National STEM Week would significantly amplify these efforts, shining a spotlight on the critical role that informal STEM learning plays in developing well-rounded, curious, and capable learners. It would create a powerful platform to showcase the innovative work happening in after-school programs, summer camps, and community centers across the country, helping to integrate in-school and out-of-school STEM experiences. As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our mission to support and expand STEM initiatives that drive progress and innovation. Our 3rd and final day of the Invent It Forward Summit centered on the power of ecosystems and sharing stories of impact. We kicked off the morning with a wonderful conversation with Jenny Conklin-Frank, Director of STEM Ecosystems at TIES Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM and Leslie Brooks at the Afterschool Alliance. Next we heard from Tim Pula with SparkLab, Smithsonian and Sara Leikin from COSI - Center of Science and Industry to talk about how cultural institutions are an important part of our ecosystem. We finished off the summit with discussions around sharing stories of impact to encourage partners to support affiliate programs with BuzzEngine and the ICW team. #InventionEducation #InventionConvention #InventItForward
