We’ve got great news: last night at the #TippingPointBenefit, our community came together to raise $14.5 million to build a stronger #BayArea! Each dollar our donors give goes directly to fight poverty. In the words of CEO Sam Cobbs, "We have faith that we can—and we will—build a Bay Area where everyone can prosper." #Firstgen students often face unique challenges on the path to earning a college degree. Tipping Point grantee Beyond 12 has an innovative solution. Personalized coaching, insights, reminders, and more—all on an app that supports students all the way up to graduation. Last year, they doubled their goal of students served, supporting 15,000 students across the #BayArea to succeed in #HigherEd. Our government benefits aren't reaching everyone who qualifies. CalFresh—a program that provides stipends to low-income individuals to buy fresh groceries—is only reaching 52% of eligible #BayArea residents, with the CA statewide average at 55%. This is according to new #research funded by Tipping Point, conducted by Stanford Center on Poverty and Inequality. The early bird gets the worm! Preparing for #college starts early, but without equal opportunity to resources or guidance many high school students end up late to the game. Tipping Point grantee College Track's innovative Semester Zero program takes rising 11th graders on a one-week immersive experience at the campus of Northern Arizona University. Students get a unique preview of college life, participate in workshops, and build connections with college students, staff, and other College Track scholars from around the country. We're proud to support grantees like College Track that provide innovative ways for more young people in the #BayArea to not only get to college but succeed there.
