I just got back from a long weekend away, and my kiddos told me there was a surprise on my desk for when I got back. I expected some homemade cards, or maybe even a cute prank- but boy was I wrong. Some backstory: my son is Cincinnati Children's number one fan- he was hospitalized for three days last year with a throat abscess and is basically a walking billboard for the hospital. Our kids, along with some of their neighborhood friends, had a lemonade stand while I was gone- and the surprise was that they did it to raise money for CCHMC. They found a card on my desk and set up the jar with the logo and explained that they proudly made $52 for the kids at the hospital. FULL TEARS. These kids took the time on their last weekend before school starts to raise money for kids they will never meet. More tears. I have the pleasure of recruiting for the Development Team (Cincinnati Children's Giving) and I know how hard they work to raise money for the hospital, so this feels extra special to me. I am so proud of these kids, and so honored to work for an organization that inspires such compassion. 💜

💡 Emerging Philanthropists Council Member Spotlight: Ryan M. Brew, Senior Project Executive at Messer Construction Co.💡   “I’ve always felt a lot of pride working with Cincinnati Children's. It is truly in its own class.” Ryan Brew has worked with Messer Construction since 2012, but he has been a member of the Children’s family since 2017. He also currently oversees the construction renovation account at Cincinnati Children’s. With three young kids at home, Ryan says his family’s experience as patients is one of the biggest factors motivating him to engage even further.   “It’s no surprise we are frequent flyers at Cincinnati Children’s. My daughter had a four-day stay in the PICU at just two months old, and I was comforted, even in the scariest time of our lives, that we were being seen at the top hospital in the country.”   Each month, check out our member highlights to learn more about our one-of-a-kind Emerging Philanthropists Council members and their reason for giving back. 🎵✨ Generous supporters like, Sam's Fans, Ollie's Orchestra, Payton's Lemonade Stand and Melody Makers Music Therapy Charitable Fund are music to our ears! That’s because their donations help us make an impact on kids like Molly. When Molly faced a life-threatening immune deficiency disorder while navigating Down syndrome, our music therapist Nicole became her beacon of joy. Through guitar strums, bongo taps, and tambourine shakes, Nicole helped Molly find moments of normalcy and happiness at Cincinnati Children's. “Molly loved it when it was time for Miss Nicole and her team to come sing, play music and give her a bit of distraction,” said Molly’s mom, Amanda. “To see my daughter experience joy and some level of normalcy in what was anything but normal for us made my heart sing with happiness.” You can help children like Molly by supporting our Music Therapy Program. 🎵✨ 🔗 Visit our wish list to provide much-needed instruments and accessories that bring hope through music: https://lnkd.in/enE3xMJg

  • 💡 Emerging Philanthropists Council Member Spotlight 💡   “Reflecting on a chance encounter two years ago, I recall the significant impact Cincinnati Children's had on a family who traveled five plus hours for their son’s treatment here. It struck me then how fortunate I was to have a world-class resource ‘in my backyard.’” Our member spotlight this month is Avery Burns Williams, Head of IR & Platform for HealthQuest Capital. Outside of work, Avery says, her journey to becoming a mother herself helped her recognize the significant role Cincinnati Children's play in the community on a whole new level.   “Joining the Emerging Philanthropist Council was the ideal way to give back to this organization while also seeing the innovative strides being made across the hospital.”   Each month, check out our member highlights to learn more about our one-of-a-kind Emerging Philanthropists Council members and their reason for giving back.
