Montage
Description: An insightful montage using three pictures to merge together and create a message. Date: Feburary 15, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm. 130 section 3 Cory Kerr Objective: Create a montage using three images in Photoshop Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop Process: After learning the brush tool and masking, I was excited to create this new flier. Being raised to appreciate the Arts, one of my favorite quotes decided to pop up in my head when the creativity began flow; Caesar A. Cruzs quote Comfort the disturbed, disturb the comforted. So I thought of heroes and villains that could fit this description and my favorite book series came to mind. Then I went to work using Adobe Photoshop. I used the masking tool, brush tool, and a put a filter over Voldemorts picture. Voldemorts picture was a little more blue than Harry Potters, so filter gave the picture a more soft color. For the background, I chose pages of books because books are my favorite type of Art.

Brochure
Description: A two-side folded brochure. Date: March 28, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm. 130 section 3 Cory Kerr Objective: Create a brochure with three sides using the Adobes Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustator Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Indesign Adobe Photoshop Adobe Illustator Process: I first thought hey, this is my last project. Lets make it fun! And I thought of all the possibilities which were: Sherlock, Harry Potter, Batman and Doctor Who. Doctor who was the easiest topic to make a brochure. The programs I used were Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I used Illustrator to create my logo. I traced the image of the sonic screwdriver and colored it white and yellow so it can stand out against the tardis blue. I decided I wanted to make the tardis that main design and since it had doors, I wanted my brochure to open as such. I also made the tardis doors in Illustrator. I got some pictures from the internet and went into Photoshop and clipped them. I put all of the pictures, logo, and tardis doors in InDesign.

Still sadden by what happened to Rose, the Doctor cant seem to show the same fondness to Martha and she eventually leaves him. Soon after the Doctor meets Donna, played by Catherine Tate, the ginger who is as funny and caring as the Doctor. Business Card
Description: A matching letterhead and business card designed using an original logo. Date: March 1, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm. 130 section 3 Cory Kerr Objective: Create an original logo and use it as a business card and letterhead Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Indesign Adobe Illustator Process: First, I sketched multiple ideas for my Sonys Chocolate Penguins logo but didnt like my draft. I made up a new company and began sketching my new idea. I came up with Brahms Keys because I love classical music. After the critics and stressful decision making, I finally opened up Adobe Illustrator and created my design. I used the pen tool to make the piano keys. When finished, I placed the image in Adobe InDesign and created this stationary and business card. I used a blue background to give my work some color since pianos are usually black and white. And the font is brown, giving it some constrast.

Letterhead
Description: A matching letterhead and business card designed using an original logo. Date: March 1, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm. 130 section 3 Cory Kerr Objective: Create an original logo and use it for a business card and letterhead. Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Indesign Adobe Illustrator Process: First, I sketched multiple ideas for my Sonys Chocolate Penguins logo but didnt like my draft. I made up a new company and began sketching my new idea. I came up with Brahms Keys because I love classical music and, funny enough, my boyfriends name is Brahms. After the critics and stressful decision making, I finally opened up Adobe Illustrator and created my design. I used the pen tool to make the piano keys. When finished, I placed the image in Adobe InDesign and created this stationary and business card. I used a blue background to give my work some color since pianos are usually black and white. Image
Description: Creating professional photos and depicting good picture editing skills. Also making a poster with a color scheme and inserting an original photo. Date: Feburary 8, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm. 130 section 3 Cory Kerr Objective: Create an inspiring message using Photoshop and original photo. Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop Process: First I decided on a color scheme and planned the analogous color scheme for my poster. Then I took multiple pictures and used six for the photodesign activity. I looked at multiple quotes to see which one I desired to share. I saw one quote from Tom Hiddleston starting with We are all flawed heroes and a song from Leonard Cohn called Anthem with one of the lines saying There is a crack in everything. Thats how the light gets in. I thought both quotes fit perfectly together so I decided to use both. After finding the message I wanted, I searched through my pictures and the temple. I sketched some designs and went to the Spori Lab to get to work. Photoshop scared me, but after two days I came up with this design.

Event Ad
Description: A full-bleed event ad promoting the art of Music and Film and to raise funds for young adult associations. Date: Feburary 1, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm. 130 section 3 Cory Kerr Objective: Create an event poster only using Word and learn to scan pictures. Program(s)/Tools: Microsoft Word Process: I scanned the four images in my film strip in an Espon V300 scanner. The images I placed in the strip were from People and Times magazines. I worked with Microsoft Word to create the whole flier. I made the film strip using the shapes tool within Microsoft Word. I aligned everything to the right side of the paper except the film strip, so there could be the right amount of white space. I placed my film strip at an angle in my ad because film is lively and has movement, so I gave it that creative touch. After giving the flier its final touches, I converted it from a Word doc., to a PDF, to a JPG by using a PDF converter.

Logos
Description: Three distinctive logos for the same company. Date: Feburary 22, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm. 130 section 3 Cory Kerr Objective: Create three logos using only Illustrator Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustator Process: This assignment was a ton of fun; I could make anything for any company, only that I make it look professional and well done. For the two top logos, I used the ellipse tool to make the penguins faces, body, wings, and eyes. I used the direct tool to shape them the shape they are now. I used the pen tool and created their beaks and the second logos bow tie. For the last logo, I typed an S and used the direct tool and distorted it and made a C out of the Ss tail. I typed a P and merged it onto the bottom curve of the S. I used Adobe Illustrator for this project.

Website
Description: A web page made for an original logo. Date: March 15, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm. 130 section 3 Cory Kerr Objective: Create a website page using HTML and CSS Program(s)/Tools: Textwrangler Adobe Photoshop Process: The journey to make this web page was fun and stressful. I used Text Wrangler and Photoshop. I have never coded before and its a lot easier than I had thought. I downloaded the CSS file and used the HTML from last weeks draft. I put a chocolate texture for the background I saved the texture in Photoshop and to the web. I experimented so much on the colors, I dont remember the coloring process only that I wanted to match the colors of the chocolate background and my logo. I also changed the font colors in my body paragraphs so it can be read with ease.

Flier
Description: A black and white flier to attract a graduating class. Date: January 25, 2014 Course/Instructor: Comm. 130 section 3 Cory Kerr Objective: Create a black and white flier in Adobe Indesign Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Indesign Process: First, I hand drew sketches of the desired designs and asked multiple people of which design they would like. Already knowing which design I had liked, I looked at the number of likes for each design and lucky enough, the one I liked had won the contest. Then the sticky work came into play. I slowly gathered the basics of the program of Adobe InDesign and created this flier. I used the repetition of grey and black lines and bold texts. The design was simple to create, but making everything fit was a challenge. After getting my flier critiqued by my peers and professor, I again used InDesign to touch up on my flier, gave it a more professional feeling, and created a good amount of white space. The picture, logo, and text were provided.
