I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this lesson, learners should be able to:
a. Identify and describe the foreground, middle ground, and the background
in a picture of a landscape.
b. Draw a landscape that shows balance.
c. Appreciate the beauty of landscapes in the province or region through
creative drawing.

1. Motivation
Introduce a guessing game of our local/ provincial land formations
and landscapes.

2. Activity
Tell the learners that there are famous landscapes and land
formations in the Philippines. Learners will guess the name of the
famous landscapes shown on the board.

3. Analysis
Ask the learners:
What objects in the picture appear nearest to the viewer?
What objects in the picture appear farthest to the viewer?
Compare their sizes.

4. Abstraction
In a landscape drawing, balance is shown through the presence of
foreground, middle ground and background. Foreground is the
part of drawing that appears to be in the front, nearest to the viewer.
While the middle ground, is the part of the drawing that lies
between the foreground and the background. The background, is
the part of the drawing that appears to be at the back, farthest away
from the viewer.

Art Activity: Landscape Drawing


Instructions:
1. Think of a scene or landscape in your province or region that
you want to draw.
2. Decide what objects are to be included in the drawing.
3. Draw a landscape showing the foreground, middle ground
and background.
4. Position the objects in the landscape to show balance.
5. Color the drawing and write a title for it.

Let the learners show their artworks to their classmates and share
their experiences while doing the activity.
